The Eye of Judgement might need glasses photo

In IGN's review of the PlayStation 3 card-based title The Eye of Judgement, they note that the camera-based card detection can actually be fooled, which may enable a type of cheating.

The game has a cheat-proof registering function, which forces players to pre-register their decks by scanning each card before games to prevent "under the table" card switching action. This is a good measure, but they didn't factor in that someone might try to copy "good" cards.

It seems that high quality color copies of cards can be detected as real ones, which would let cheaters simply print off cards they don't have to play with. IGN notes that this does not affect gameplay, as cheaters will still have to follow in-game rules while in a match, but they'll still be playing with cards they don't own.

Of course, only a total douche would copy cards to win, but as we all know, there are plenty of cheaters out there that would go to these lengths to win.

Great concept. But who didn't see this coming?

Didn't they try this using the X-men and a 2-d fighter?

This won't matter when no one plays it.

I wonder if they plan to do the same thing to Yugioh. Look at me, we're adults playing a children's card game.

Everyone's going to copy Charizard, because he's the best card in the game.

"Only a total douche"

Sir, have you SEEN the general PS3 userbase?

Exactly.

Well...I doubt THAT type of person would buy a CCG, simply because it isn't: "Gangsta", enough

I totally predicted this and posted about it in the last thread about this game, and everyone said I was retarded and that there's no way Sony would let that happen.

Who cares? No breaking the rules means no cheaters. Fake cards or not, they're not getting any in-game advantage. Honestly, I hate CCGs, I think the companies that keep pumping out these overpriced colored pieces of cardboard are greedy. I'd use printed cards if I could, if I even gave a damn about this game that is.

Okay. No now not only is everyone going to be net-decking, but everyone is going to have exactly the same cards, seeing as how all you need to do is print them and that's it.

Erm...boo hoo? It just means you can enjoy the full game without paying tons of money for a good strategy. Games like Magic are basically won by those with the biggest wallets, and it's much more fun to enjoy the game with a full suite of options instead of being limited by the random cards your poor wallet can afford.

That being said, I'd still prefer to have the real cards.

Good. Having to pay money on top of the game is retarded. It should have just all been ingame like Culdecept.

I think its a good thing that you can fool it with a color copy. Means if you want to play the game all you have to do is spend the first $70 on the game and not another $70 to make a good deck.

Yeah, I really did think Sony would have some fool proof way to avoid this situation. A hologram or something?

I can tell you right now, though, you'd probably have to have a damn good printer to do this. Something tells me the shit resolution you get on normal printers won't fool the camera.
