GoNintendo sure do come across some great eBay auctions. Today, they've come across this extremely rare light gun called the Mult-Purpose Arcade Combat Simulator (M.A.C.S. for short). The M.A.C.S. were designed by the Military to train soldiers in bootcamp back in the day. The gun was designed to look and feel like a real M16 and only worked with a specially designed game cartridge. Players would have to be about seven feet back from the T.V. for the game to actually work too.
There is no copyright info on the game, so no one knows who made it. As for the game itself, it consists of nine levels and aims to help a soldier with their postioning, aiming, and breathing skills. The gun is currently at $36 and the game is at $26, each with six days left in the auction.

Hamza Aziz, Destructoid's Community Director, has been here since day one. He was born when a tiger coughed up a hairball into a pool of ooze. He was one of the original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles before budget cuts. Hamza works as a previews editor and manages a team in San Francisco. To date he has given away tens of thousands of dollars in prizes to readers. What a dick. Actually, Hamza is as kind as he is hairy.

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
@F Whipple: I bet there are a bunch of people that will camp it and bid within the last minute.
I saw a modern version of this they had at SHOT show, it even had a pneumatic ram in the buffer tube to simulate recoil.
Still give me the good ole mouse and keyboard combo for offing virtual hadjis.
The fact that people would spend a great deal of money on something that really isn't that useful (or cool at that) really baffles me.
For the kind of money I'm expecting those items to fetch, I could easily get the 1080p LCD screen I was planning to get for use with the PS3
LCD for gaming? I don't know if I'd do that. Maybe I'm just paranoid, but isn't plasma for screens that big a much smarter choice?
If you don't understand, you aren't a collector.
I've got plenty of crap that most gamers would think "useless", but is a part of gaming history. I think it's a very unique piece that should find a place in a nice collection or museum
