Dragonborn out now, Hearthfire and Dawnguard to follow in coming weeks

Better late than never, right? Bethesda has finally started to release the downloadable content for Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim on PlayStation 3. The latest installment, Dragonborn, is now available via PlayStation Network for $9.99. That's only a temporary price, mind you, as all three add-ons will be offered for half off during their launch weeks on the platform.

Hearthfire is due out next Tuesday with Dawnguard set to follow the week after. I suppose it's nice that the content Xbox 360 and PC owners have had access to for several months has finally made its way to PS3. However, as someone who played the game on Sony's home console, I can't muster much excitement for their release on the system. Even with the discount, it almost seems like too little too late.

I love both Bethesda and Skyrim, but it's been out for well over a year and the game's luster has faded somewhat since then. Moreover, having already suffered through the numerous issues present in the grievously inferior PS3 version, the DLC troubles feel like icing on an already sour cake. It's difficult to feel not the slightest bit disrespected for supporting a multiplatform game and feeling spurned for playing on your preferred console.

But hey, if you're just looking forward to spending more time with Skyrim then more power to you!
