Everything Miyamoto said in that interview is true. Nintendo trying to spin it to make it sound like otherwise is just them trying to do damage control. Miyamoto is backing off from his general manager position to do direct game development himself. That public statement from Nintendo afterwards is just a bunch of bullshit.
Good Lord, Holmes looks like Nathan Drake in that photo!
I'm pretty much with Vanor on this one. I think Miyamoto wanted to retire, but hen the shares dipped 2% Nintendo was like "shiiiit, better put up a retraction!" Still, I hope he does back down from being in charge and just makes new games that he wants to make - that's always been what Miyamoto does best, plus it would allow a lot of the younger devs to actually get their ideas out there, ideas that were either slapped down or cut and pasted into a Mario, Zelda or Kirby game. Him steping down from Executive Producer could've been one of the smartest things Nintendo could ever do in terms of innovation.
Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
