But yeah, i'm getting this friday along with my Catherine : Stray Sheep Edition I preordered.
Also Thanks for the review
Also, also lore.
Beyond that I agree with most of the points, at least in terms of pros vs. cons, although I don't necessarily agree with the importance of each. For example, I'm not really bothered all that much by the dialogue trees or the voice acting (although the list vs. wheel thing is really odd).
An RPG for people who think they like RPGs
Also, why can't I carry my shield in the off hand?
Uwe Boll and Tyler Perry are professional film makers in much the same way as R.A. Salvatore is a professional fantasy author.
Poor story-telling didn't stop Fable so I can't see it getting in the way of Kingdom of Amalur: Reckoning's success, either. It really only matters how fun it is to slice things up even in a genre prized for the depth of its immersion factor, world building and character choices, right?
The term RPG seems to mean different things to different people so to say that its an RPG for people who think they like RPG's is a bit of nonsense thing to say. And rather elitist. Role Playing Games allow you to play a particular role (usually of your own choosing). Amalur, by all accounts, seems to allow you to do just that; you can choose exactly the kind of character you want to play and mix and match to your hearts content. I don't know what you think RPG means but it is essentially that. Yes, RPGs tend to focus on story but that doesn't mean they all have to have a gripping, immersive narrative to still be classed as one.
