The DTOID Show: 2012 in Retrospecticus
I know what you're thinking. "But Tara, the year's only half over!" Well yes, technically that's true, but it doesn't mean we can't stop and take a moment to gather our thoughts on this year's video game releases, does it? ...Okay fine, you caught me. Max and I were down in Anaheim for VidCon on Friday and this sounded like as good a topic as any for a pre-recorded episode. When you think about it, though, a lot has changed since the beginning of the year. Untimely delays, massive layoffs, and fan feedback are just a few of the things that can shape the gaming industry without our realizing it. So today, we take a look back at 2012's most memorable games thus far, before looking forward to see what the rest of the year has to offer us. The results just might surprise you! (But probably not.) Tags:#3DS#Borderlands#Destructoid Originals#Dishonored#Journey#Kid Icarus#mass effect 3#Max Payne#PC#PS3#The Darkness#The Destructoid Show#video#Xbox 360 Did you know? Legacy Comments (will be imported soon)The only game I am really looking forward to is South Park Stick of Truth and that doesn't come out until next year. Assassin's Creed III is the one I'm most looking forward to as of now. Of Orcs and Men looks interesting as well. Xcom, Assassins Creed, and Sleeping Dogs in that order. With the exception of my excitement for Skyrim, I've not been so eagerly anticipating games as I am these in a very long time. I also want to check out Hitman and Dishonored, but with a much lesser degree of anticipation. All in all a ridiculously strong year for games. Max, did you say Mike Drucker? I swear that name pops up in my 3DS street pass tag every single time I ride the bus, and sometimes when I don't. His mii sports fashionably high beauty pageant hair and definitely helps me kick ass in Find Mii.
Also Tara - yes, Kid Icarus is a whole lot of fun-ness. I love Hades. For me, Fire Emblem awakening is the winner till now (not released in US yet, but geez is it a good FE game! I even bought all of dlc maps on the eshop), with Kid Icarus being the close second. ME3 feels lack polishing and rushed and too shooter-ish. Haven't played D3, and Xenoblade I played it last year. Will buy lollipop chainsaw and Amalur once the price goes down. Looking forward to Etrian Odyssey 4(this week. demo is awesome), Animal Crossing, Paper Mario, Assassin's Creed 3, Borderlands 2 and Halo 4. Less blockbusters compared to last year but still awesome lineup. Jet Set Radio HD,
Tony Hawk HD, Hell Yeah! Wrath of the Dead Rabbit, Dishonored, Far Cry 3, Halo 4, Need for Speed: Most Wanted, ZombiU Retro City Rampage, for sure. Although I find it hard to look forward to games anymore. I was stupid stoked for both Serious Sam 3 and Max Payne 3, and I haven't bought either yet. :\ Waiting for Tales of Graces F, since it hasn't come out in Europe yet. I really don't have favorite game for this year so far and I can't even remember any games that have come out this year. Also, Borderlands 2. 11:30 PM on 06.18.2013 Smash Bros. Mega Man looks amazing on the 3DSA lot of people are betting on Super Smash Bros. on the Wii U to be a big system seller. The more I see of the 3DS version of the game, the less confident I am in that. Depending on how different the two versions are, Nintend...

12:00 AM on 06.16.2013 Luigi the Kaiju in Mario & Luigi: Dream TeamFunny thing about the 3DS demo stations at this year's and last year's E3: they were mobile. And I don't mean they were attached to rolling podiums. Nintendo hired a bunch of girls to walk around the floor with 3DS units fast...
