Last year, GuitarAtomik sang, Rio McCarthy made a bunch of awesome, Necros was racist, itemforty drew the staff, RockVillian made a prologue, CannibalCalvin was creepy, LarkOhiya made a Destructoid in Halo 3, DJDuffy made an animation, Butmac got really drunk and Ceark made the Destructoid graphic novel. A lot of awesome happened last year, so it was pretty hard thinking of something to top all those incredible efforts. I finally thought of something a couple of months ago and called for artists from the Destructoid community to work together on a special project. The idea originally was for the artists to just make their own version of the Destructoid robot and bring all the different Destructoids together into one picture. In the e-mail I sent to the 40 plus artists that volunteered, I made an off-hand joke that we should make a children's alphabet book instead. After laughing at my own joke for a little while, I kept thinking about it and realized an alphabet book themed after Destructoid sounded brilliant. So, that's what we have here now. The aim of the anniversary project was for everyone to draw their own version of the Destructoid robot and relate their image to a letter, symbol, number or made up icon of their choice. Obviously, there were more than 26 people on this project so we unofficially added some new "letters" to the English alphabet. Here’s a breakdown of everyone that submitted an image to the project:
A made by Hoygeit B made by ElectroLemon C made by Justice D made by Mikey E made by ZombiePlatypus F made by Topher Cantler G made by Ashley Davis H made by Welkstar I made by Stella J made by Haxan K made by GamingGoddess L made by DJDuffy M made by RioMcCarthy N made by Vonneuton O made by ImpossiblePlant P made by Togail Q made by deiga-the-semivalant R made by Silverhertz S made by DanlHaas T made by ScaryWomanizngPigMask U made by GuitarAtomik Y made by ElectroLemon Z made by theGAMEGOBLIN Ñ made by Teta ! made by aborto thefetus $ made by Primo 1/10 made by TrailerParkJesus 6 made by Rider Chop <3 made by .tiff Big thanks goes out to EVERYONE that was involved with this project, especially to Haxan who helped a few people with coloring and creating rhymes. The project isn’t over yet though! As you can see, a few letters aren’t represented as some people had to drop out or just couldn’t submit something in time. Plus more random letters, symbols and numbers are more than welcome. I will continue to accept submissions to the Destructoid children’s alphabet book until May 16. If you have an idea for a page, then please drop me an e-mail and we’ll make something happen. After May 16, the cover page and the credits page for the book will be created as well and I will turn this into an actual physical book! Happy birthday Niero and happy birthday Destructoid!
