The definitive Dark Souls trailer is fan-made

'Prepare to Cry: Dark Souls' short film

The story of Dark Souls can be glossed over if you aren't actively seeking it out. And even then, there's a lot of effort required on the part of players -- a lot of piecing together of seemingly disparate in-game text snippets. If you've ever searched YouTube hoping to find answers, you might have encountered VaatiVidya's videos, which cover the game's characters in great detail.

A number of you sent in this new video, "Prepare to Cry: Dark Souls." It's described as a short film but you can also think of it almost as a trailer for the game; the trailer that should have been. Another impressive piece of work from a community that continues to impress. Just when you think you can't like Dark Souls any more, we're reminded of its greatness again.

[Thanks, Esmail and Ron]
