Sure, some games have awful controls but the games that are actually built for that platform are great. Once you've learned the nuances of the touchscreen, the controls are quite intuitive.
I've spent a lot of time with touchscreen games (even considered making some) and they are dreadful for the most part. There are games that use touch properly, but there are just as many that try to use on-screen analog sticks, tilt, or finger tracking. In the case of on-screen analog sticks, a visual representation of a what you would love to provide, but isn't available, is not acceptable.
