I like the new trilogy (ep 3 is particularly excellent), I really enjoyed Episode 1 in 3D at the theater and I think they did a fantastic job on the Star Wars Saga blu-ray collection. Come at me, bros.

I mean wtf? FF4 is the greatest game ever crafted, it defined what you could bring to the table in gaming! The heroes and heroics, the villains and the villainy! The timeless lesson of love, fellowship, and betrayal. Of being human and fighting for your beliefs and whats right in your heart. And then, in a world of sword and sorcery, to blast off to the MOON!
That game showed us just what it meant to be human, and to never give up!

i'm sorry, but was Star Wars ever actually good? i'm sorry, but fanboys can wet themselves all they want - i've seen first 6 movies long before the prologue trilogy was made and they sucked ass. they were like incredibly bad, cheesy B movies that were so fuckin embarrassing to watch.

I really hate when people complain about this stuff. The story of the prequels was there long before the movies came out. they didn't really change anything. ok, they added stuff to the originals but honestly, greedo shooting first just makes for a better story. midiclorians were around the whole time, you just never knew about them because you're not really a real fan and only watched the movies, which, to be honest all 6 suck. star wars is such a beautiful universe with great characters and an amazing story at all points in the time line. its like if someone just watched harry potter without reading it. those movies were just bad. when people complain about the "new" star wars theyre just showing off that they really know nothing about star wars.

Vader yells "NNNOOOOOOOOO" right before he picks up the emperor to keep in line with Anakin "NNNOOOOOOOOO" at the end of ep.3
Ewoks now have CGI eyelids that click when they blink.
They STILL haven't fixed all the lightsaber color errors (sometimes it's red or sometimes it's bubblegum pink for Vader, Luke's changes between green, light green, and white basically).
They added CGI here, a "krayt dragon yell" there, a rock for r2-d2 to hide behind from the sand people but then the rocks gone when he wants to come out. Just a TON of careless stuff. There is more, but it's $90 I'm not willing to spend on subpar quality when they STILL won't give original remastered versions of the original trilogy. All I want, cleaned up copies of the originals.

Empire is the only one that really holds my attention anymore. The problem with Star Wars is that for the most part, modern Sci-Fi (Battlestar Galactica, Mass Effect) has surpassed it. Star Wars has been content to run on nostalgia for over 30 years, and it's finally running out of steam. That is, unless you're ten years old, watch The Clone Wars and don't know any better.

Well thank god I don't let what's cool dictate what I enjoy. Star Wars is alive and well and very very enjoyable to me. Fair weather fans can come and go as they please. Absolutely nothing is going to take away my enjoyment of something I've loved so much since I was 3 years old.

I never understood too why all the hate with the new trilogy. I like Ep. 1 and 3 was awesome, but I can't remember well the second one. Oh well, time to re-watch everything.

Why is there so much butthurt over this Star Wars thing? I hope Lucas can continue to alter the older movies and make them more "accessible." Talk about subpar actors - I got one - MARK HAMILL. Also, most of the resentment comes from "older" people; not many users lurk around this website who were born around 1967 and were of an age when they would have been impressionable and blown away by the original in its original glory. Then there was "empire" with the soap opera bullshit - I am your father - great flick, don't get me wrong, but equally as cheesy as the newer movies; same for "return" but even cheesier. I don't see any disconnect between the two sets of trilogies, they both appeal to the prurient interest in incest and cheese.

But even then, watching the prequels before the older ones destroys one of the best and most famous plot twists in cinema history. That's reason enough to not like them.

That's the reason I always recomend the old ones before the prequels when someone come ask me about it. Watching in the release order nothing of value is really lost.
And I really like those movies, they are great in a hollywood-ish and fun way. But no problem with you don't liking it. Opinions and stuff.

I'd rather just enjoy the vintage 70's-80's cheese without the 90's-00's CGI cheese mixed into it. When I want 90's cheese I'll watch Independence Day or Godzilla, but leave it out of my Star Wars, please. It just doesn't taste right when you mix it together. :[
@ Tristix, I can never get the cheese, they always run out. But I'm with you on the Star Wars stuff; they're very entertaining movies, all 6 of them, and I don't know why "upgrading" the older ones is such "sacrilege". I thoroughly enjoy videogame remasters and re-releases, like Peace Walker on the 360.
Bullshit. The new trilogy was awful, apart from the knowing what was going to happen thus being pointless it was full of sub Jurassic park CGI and some awful kid friendly characters.
STAR WARS somewhat opens with luke Skywalker finding his uncle and aunt burned and dead... episode 1 we get, Jar Jar binks and fucking baby pod racing. How exactly does that compare to frozen Han Solo, Jabba and Greedo definitely not shooting first? Incidentally- about Greedo shooting first, It's about characterization. Han solo is a mercenary, he's supposed to be immoral- he's not a hero until later. Lucas suddenly decides he wants to paint a more moral picture of Han, wtf.
I'm not the kid I used to be but the original trilogies untouched by easily dated cgi (don't tell me the shitty inserted cgi Han/jabba scene looks good)are still classics of kiddy nostalgia that I'd buy and watch on a sunday along with my original Indiana jones trilogy (yes, fuck 4 and hopefully no remastered with cgi snakes and comedy cartoon date eating monkey coming up). How exactly is it entitled to want the original versions of the films you loved? Is Lucas going to update the films every time CGI makes advances ? Leave old stuff behind. Incidentally THX 1138 is an amazing film and it's sickening how Lucas as an artist could abandon that kind of film making completely after the success of Star Wars.
Can you imagine the outcry if some hack replaced all the stop frame in 'Clash of the Titans' with CGI?
CGI is great for robots, space ships and giant structures, but for anything trying to be living it utterly fails.
