I like the Street Fighter style of combat going on. The whole "OMG PAINT FLIES OUT OF MY PUNCHES" works really well with everything.

The sad thing is, the Red Hood movie might be the best DC animated film... Next to Wonder Woman, anyway.

@PenguinPrime: I didn't think there was anything to like about it, frankly. It combined two existing comic stories and made a convoluted mess. Seemed a very kitchen-sink approach. Something about DiMaggio's Joker also irked me, which was sad because I love DiMaggio.

I haven't read the comics myself so that might be it. As for DiMaggio's Joker, any Joker is better than the one in Young Justice.

I thought the Under The Red Hood version of the Joker was really well done. It was a perfect combination of the animated series & Nolan versions. If we're never going to see Hamill's Joker again, I'd be happy if DiMaggio kept up the role.

So, I'm going to assume that the animation studio behind that ridiculously awesome short isn't going to get funding to continue it.

Yeah "Year One" is pretty good. The voice acting is not tho. God it's bad. Cranston as Gordon is the only one who puts any effort into it. Animation is solid tho.

Under the Red Hood could only have been more awesome if there was more violence on the part of Jason Todd. The voice acting was great, well delivered, funny.

Weird, my friends and I are all HUGE Batman nerds, and we all loved Under the Red Hood--thought it was the best animated Batman flick since Mask of the Phantasm. To each their own, I guess.

That video was neat until Bane showed up. Everything after that was dumb. Also, I can't believe I'm saying this, but if you want Year One just read the comic. From what I've seen, the movie does literally nothing different or interesting. It just has keyframes between the comic panels. I guess that's good?

Oh yeah and Gotham Knight beats them all.

Loved it, then I hated it. Bane did not fit in at all and Batman should never have vampire powers. What makes Batman cool is he is just a man.

Ehh, I didnt like Under the Red Hood that much either. Gotham Knights would have been great if a couple of the stories werent complete crap. I liked Year One but that's mostly because I really enjoyed the comic book, the Catwoman short that came with the dvd is awesome though.

I would watch a Shanghai Batman series, it's different enough to be its own thing. Every other asian batman thing has been shit, the short in Gotham Knights where anime-batman has a device that deflects bullets...ugh, friggin stupid.

That was awesome! Loved the nod to King Kong too. I am anxiously awaiting for the Dark Knight Returns blu-ray as well. Hopefully we won't have to wait too long for part two though.

This was pretty cool but I need to echo Bobthecatlol's thoughts of Batman's vampire powers kind of going against what makes Batman so cool in the first place.

Bane also did feel a bit out of place. They should've made him a Tengu or something. The wrestler's mask just didn't work.

Is this from one of those Bat Mite Presents episodes of The Brave and the Bold? I only ask because I've been watching a couple of those recently...specifically the one featuring Bat Manga which was pretty terrible to be honest...

I did like this though, even the whole bursting into a swarm of bats thing...go Shanghai Batman!

That short was amazing.

I loved "Death in the Family" and I liked Under the Red Hood. I haven't read "Under the Hood", though, so that might explain some things. The final scene (in the cave with the kid) really got to me and my girlfriend.

I loved Under The Red Hood. Year One's great, but it is just the graphic novel animated straight.

My current favourite is the latest though, Superman Vs The Elite. Exactly what I want in a Superman film.

I would totally watch this, though I don't really know if I'm down with Batman being magic or whatever. Maybe splitting into a bunch of bats is just an illusion. Still, the speed of that combat would be awesome for the character.

I also was a fan of Under the Red Hood. Best animated Batman film I've seen since Return of the Joker, though I will say I haven't seen Year One (I just own the novel). Gotham Knight was... erm.... poop, imo.

Also, Black Mask in Under the Red Hood was hilarious. I was in hysterics every time he spoke, or punched someone, or both.

What a waste of everyone's time! That was terrible! Bane rolling around? Catwoman with a tale, Batman... NOPE! That was repulsive, I was more interested what the little panda was doing on the rice screen they showed in front of Bane and Batman.

@Aerograt: Given the high animation quality alone, it's unlikely that something like that would be funded, unfortunately.

@ flintmech: See, that's also what I've heard about Year One, which doesn't sound particularly interesting, as I've long since read the comic and can reach to the shelf and read it whenever I like. A few of the Gotham Knight stories fell flat, but all in all I quite liked it.

UNDER THE RED HOOD WAS AWESOME! So was Year One. While I respect your opinion, it's wrong ;)

I also gotta say that I thought Under the Red Hood was pretty damn good. Decent animation, great fight choreography, solid voice work, especially Neil Patrick Harris as Nightwing and Wade Williams as Black Mask. I was also put off by DiMaggio's Joker at first, but by the end of the movie it had really grown on me. I was never big on bringing Jason Todd back, in the comics or otherwise, but I made my peace with that long ago, and I was able to just sit back and enjoy the entertainment on this one.

On the other hand, there are a lot of people praising the animated Year One in here, and that I just don't understand. I thought it was SUPER disappointing. I say this as someone who absolutely adores Year One the comic. Again, it had decent animation, but why did they go with a generic anime-esque look? It just doesn't work with the tone of the story. I love Mazzucchelli's work on the comic, and I would have loved to see it in motion. As someone else said, the voice work is really flat and lifeless, only Cranston seems to put in any effort, and to no avail in my opinion. I would love to see Cranston play Gorden live action one day though, he'd kill it IMO. Action wise it's pretty meh as well, that one is not the movie's fault though, Year One is not a particularly action heavy Batman story. What can you do though? It seems some people were happy with it at least. I hope they make another version in the future though.

And now to make anyone who has agreed or disagreed with this post at all completely disregard anything I have said or will say: I'm not looking forward to The Dark Knight Returns animated movie because... Wait for it... I think The Dark Knight Returns is the most over rated Batman comic of all time.

Under the Red Hood was by far better than Year One. The comic just didn't translate well to film, especially since no real "bad guy" was involved.
