BTW, I'd encourage any gamers with an actual head on their shoulders to at least try a game before labeling it as 'bad'. I'm pretty sure that the people whining about 6 being a dud haven't even played the game yet....I'd know this as I JUST got my copy.
You can take ole' Jim's word for it too....but ask yourself, if Jim Sterling told you to jump off of a bridge....would you do it? (If you answered yes then you should probably seek therapeutic help).
Anywhoo, we'll see how much longer Capcom can make stupid decisions and stay afloat.
There's a demo available. My experience in that demo is pretty much the same as most reviews of the full game, only longer.
I'm afraid I don't have the unlimited resources to purchase every game. Well, I have bought myself F1 2012, Borderlands 2, Half Minute Hero, Jet Set Radio, FIFA 13, Dark Souls PC and XCOM this past week, so I think that should allow me to avoid playing a train wreck.
Also, you can always rent and see for yourself if you agree or disagree with other people's opinions.
And sorry for the not-so-clear use of the english language.
Demo's are a good way to get a feel for a game, however the demo hardly gave you play time enough in any of the three campaigns to make a 'final verdict' on the game (nobody should throw a game aside based on a demo alone). Sometimes you have to take all aspects into consideration when playing a game, because it's easy to jump on a negative bandwagon and hate rather then develop our own personal opinions.
Keep in mind this is all coming from a gamer who thoroughly enjoyed Duke Nukem Forever and I Am Alive, despite the sketchy reviews they received. Just saying. LOVE YA DESTRUCTOID, keep up the great work ;)
I have to admit I often give Jim Sterling's reviews more value than others, and that's because his views and assessments on games usually correlate well with my own. So I find him a pretty useful indicator for how I will like a game I was on the fence about anyway. But sure, if it's a game I was planning on getting anyway and I'm really excited about, I don't really care about reviews.
Demos, however, can be real killers. Why would publishers put out gameplay that they don't think is representative of the game and will hook players? If the demo sucks but the game is great, they did a shitty job making a demo and it's their own fault if the demo helps people decide to not buy their product.
Alright, well, I rambled a bit there. I haven't had my 20oz of green tea yet this morning, but I think my point is in there somewhere. ish.
Making a judgement, or at least letting a demo have influence over your judgement, based on a demo is part of being an informed consumer.
As molamola said, demos are of course not the final product, but they are supposed to at least somewhat represent what the game will be like.
I think we're always going to disagree on this then. I mean, to give a company $60 when everything around me including playing a demo is screaming at me that it will be bad is like telling them you want more of it. They don't mind about player feedback as long as their bottom line gives them a hug.
But I would like to say thanks for having a well-reasoned argument. It's rare to have that in the comments!
Now I'm just so cynical towards Capcom's that I'd rather them just let the franchise quietly die in the night. I don't really believe in Capcom anymore which is quite sad considering their righteous history before this generation.
Time to step down and let other survival horror/zombie games take RE's place. Thankfully there's Dead Space 3 on the horizon (my favourite horror game). Let's just hope EA doesn't pull a Capcom with the action direction they've been pushing on these last two games and fuck the franchise over completely.
I got my copy of Resident Evil 6 saturday, here in Brazil we get some stuff early, go figure. The game (PS3 version) is AMAZING! The Leon campaing is nerve wrecking horror, 3 scares and counting so far, really really fun, looks great too. AMAZING GAME, it deservers at least a 9,0. If you like horror movies or games, BUY IT!
