The Conduit is hitting store shelves June 23 photo

Get those trigger fingers and nunchuck wrists loosened, Wii owners. SEGA and High Voltage Software’s The Conduit is hitting store shelves June 23.

If you’re not hot on The Conduit, here’s an easy way to sell you: take a gander at that inspired cover art in the gallery. It speaks volumes for the title. In The Conduit you play as a glaucoma patient with a penchant for Tron fashion. When you’re not busy seeking treatment, you’ll find yourself doing an array of different action activities such as bouncing a ghastly ball of light in the palm of your hand and aiming in the opposite direction of alien enemies. Crazy stuff, folks.

Do check out our preview of The Conduit if you’re curious and do tell us what you think about this final box art or your anticipation for the title.

I'm still not sure if I'll be getting this. I know blah blah blah got to support the hardcore devs on the Wii, but will I have to be giving up a lot just to play a multiplayer FPS with the Wiimote?? Will it be enough to pull me away from the shooters on the PS3?? It really depends on the number of my fellow Dtoiders who plan on buying it. I'll totally fold under peer-pressure from you guys <3

What exactly was the last FPS Wii game? Red Steel? I'm pretty sure there was one other title but I'm too arsed to see if it exists.

I'm hoping it plays well, but with the recent good run of games Sega has been publishing lately (obviously not including anything Sonic), I feel it'll be worth the look. Also, those glasses are pretty goofy.

I plan on getting The Conduit.

Nice boxart by the way.

@Celica: Since when does FPS equate to multiplayer? Why can't a game have a good first-person, single-player experience?

@Jack: I would think it was Metroid Prime 3: Corruption.

I know it doesn't and sorry if I made it seem like FPS = multiplayer but I really struggle to play single player FPSs. I find them way too linear and they can't hold my attention long enough to get through them. I still haven't beat the single player campaign of Killzone 2, Portal and the rest of Orange Box, yet I sunk a ton of time into TF2 and multiplayer for K2. I more or less forced myself through Resistance 2 and Metroid Prime 3 but haven't convinced myself to get Bioshock yet. I know I'm missing out on a lot of great experiences but I am a very competitive person and rather spend my time playing with other people.

It's just the way I am.

Do you aim your cursor with the motion sensor in the wiimote? Cause if you do, then I think this is a fps/rail shooter.

*GASP*

Oh ... my ... God ... You have got to play "Portal" all the way through! The others I can forgive, but not "Portal"! Blasphemy! ;)

I guess I'm the opposite. I'd much rather have an engrossing single-player experience first. The only exceptions were the "Battlefield" series, although I play "Call of Duty 4" with friends. For me, I like the satisfaction of getting through it myself and *then* if the game still holds my interest going for the multiplayer.

Haha alright I'll get through it sometime next week. What I did play through of Portal I had enjoyed but I just struggled to get back into it after taking a break with Team Fortress 2. That's why I hate playing more than one game at a time, I lose focus too easily. But school is done for me tomorrow and I'll have time for video games again *casts eyes onto Valkyria Chronicles* ^_^

@Chronic Logic: From the videos I've watched, it seems as if you aim with the IR on the Wii-mote, actually. And you move with the analog on the Nunchuck. I highly doubt, as a matter of fact, I'm positive its not on-rails. Check it out.

@Chronic

This is a full-fledged FPS, trust me.

Full-fledged FPS that swims generic seas. I'm sorry, but it's hard to take anything on the Wii seriously anymore...little white system is dead to me.

I love Sega, no matter what they do to Sonic.
This is currently on my radar.

This game has looked incredibly generic and uninspired since it was first previewed. The developers keep saying their pushing the Wii's visuals to the limits but I'd rather they were pushing the gameplay and storytelling.

The sunglasses really do make that guy look like a douche.

I'll still be getting it if the gameplay is there. I've heard the story is decent, if just another variation on 'space marine versus alien conspiracy'. But these days it's either that, WWII, or zombies - regardless of system.

Just because you think this game looks generic (which is fine, it's your opinion), the Wii is dead to you? You're missing out on really good stuff, then.

There was also Medal of Honor that came out after Metroid Prime 3, I believe.

After Metroid Prime 3, I've been waiting for another FPS to come to the Wii. Using the IR sensor for aiming is a really engrossing experience, even if the graphics are week. I like that they're pushing the system for graphics, it would be nice if the art design and story were less generic, but there's still a lot that looks good in this game. Between this and Ghostbusters giving me what looks to be a really solid ots, I'm pretty content with my shooters on Wii.

This cover looks a lot like the cover from some game from the 80's or 90's. NES, SNES... maybe Genesis. I've checked Street Fighter 2010. Was there a game called Shatterfist or something?
Anyway, cover art is so cheesy and 80's-ish it hurts.

no wonder that guy needs the 'ghastly ball' to see if he's wearing an electric stove for glasses, while holding a toaster as a gun.

plot twist is probably that the conduit is blind and is chipped with a visor which makes him a cyborg fighting the aliens, which to me is less generic than human's fighting zombies/aliens/nazi's... you get my point, i think i'm buying this.

Every podcast I've listen to in the last week said this is another case of a game getting attention simply because it's on the Wii.

Based on what I've seen to date, I'd have to agree. If this were a PS3 or 360 title, we wouldn't even be talking about it.

I'm predicting review scores in the 6-7 range and it selling about 100,000 copies.

I expect it to sell 50.000! Will probably get good reviews scores tho, I mean if you look at the 6-7 range for other Wii titles...
