The Bible Online is a new strategy MMO game ... seriously photo

If you've ever read all the rape, genocide and deep-seated racism in The Bible and thought to yourself, "Man, that sounds like my kind of world," then this is the game for you! The Bible Online allows players to "slip into the role of Abraham and his descendants and have the opportunity to reenact and witness the incidents of their times."

The game is going to be split into chapters with The Heroes being the first released. The basic setup is that of an MMO strategy game, where players control their own tribe, build a city, and naturally wage war in the name of God. It won't be a case of holding onto territory, however, as the ultimate goal is leading one's band of merry savages into the promised land.

Side quests, roleplaying elements and more have all been promised, making this possibly the best game based on a book that was written by 2,000-year-old cultists from whom many civilized Americans still take their medical advice.

Sounds like fun, and I'm tempted to sign up for the beta. My only problem with Bible games is that the story is always so far-fetched for some reason. They should get Square Enix to write up something a bit more believable.

Yeah, ha ha ha, us and our silly religions. We get it, Jim.

That aside, this does sound like a neat concept, I'd like to see how such a turn-based strategy MMO turns out once it hits the market.

Religion bashing, how very predictable...Anyway, these Bible based games sometimes end up being so bad they're worth playing. I'll keep a eye on this one.

Lolz at Bible games.

Also, Jim, the phrase is deep-seated, not seeded. Seeded is a common misconception. Just for future reference, don't hate me. :P

@rexwolf,

Pretty sure there are more muslims on the planet now. Seem to recall something about that in the news a while ago, might be wrong. This article made me laugh. If only we could all be as smart and good looking as Jim the hip sarcastic atheist.

Cool Christian raps about "side hugs" didn't work so they're trying to hook the kids on digital heroin? Well, this might actually work.

The mindless repetition of bible study could be made more popular if the students got their rewards *before* they die, in the form of Jesus points or whatever it'll be.

Will prayers work like spells in this game perhaps? You know, unlike IRL.

I would suggest Jim taking the edge off in his writing, but having an offensive edge is what makes Jim Jim. So meh.

Now then, is this going to be the answer for repressed young Christian gamers whose parents won't let them play more sinful MMOs?

Beautiful. People see a mildly satirical article concerning the bible, and it's construed as religion-bashing. Nice. If you read the bible and take it literally, you're all terrible theists.

I never would of guessed people took the time to make religious related games that don't involve having some type of educational purpose slapped on to it, or am I missing the big picture here?

The Atheists Prayer...

Lord with the white beard and white skin, please give me the charm of a thousand puppies so I can fuck this hot ass blonde bitch at the coffee shot. She has a tight little ass that even you would fuck. Also, she only has B-cup tits so can't you like...snap your fingers...and make them the size of cantalopes? Your bastard tiny dick son Jesus is too much of a fag and won't help me out......Muhammad said he would help but he blew himself up on accident..Im running out of time... but not out of options! There are thousands of other gods and religions to choose from if this prayer doesn't work! Thank You in advance

PS: Please end world hunger, war, genocide, pain, fear, disease & poverty too since you are so powerful and loving.....

'rape'; WHERE? Many old jewish laws were designed to protect women, even through war the women of the other nations

'genocide'; It isn't genocide if God created the people in the first place. Morons with limited understanding see God from a human perspective rather then seeing him just undoing what he did, choosing what he wants to do with what he created in the first place

'deep seeded racism'; Again, WHERE?!

All this and the fact that the old testament cannot be removed from its original context and purpose. e.g. God would not genecide directly or in the same way.

Raging internet nerds throwing empty insults about a religion they cannot even begin to understand is funny. Actually just goes to show how powerful the religion(s) are that they get this treatment... Why are so many afraid of them?

Jim, you should organise a real debate (you'll have to use yourself of course, no point in making all those comments in all your articles if you cannot back them up personally) instead of hiding behind ideologies and a lot of barking (a.k.a. hateful comments that have no backing, with no actual bite).

"My only problem with Bible games is that the story is always so far-fetched for some reason."

Yet magical transformations, illogical existance, and an ever-changing story that have NEVER been proved are realistic?

Just goes to show how distorted your own perspection is.

Well, you have to understand that it's text, and without any tone of voice or body language, so he could only go on the fact that it's Jim Sterling., A man who doesn't have the best track record of not pissing people off. At any rate, I'm Christian Lutheran and I'm having a hard time stomaching the fact that this game exists. Ugh... At any rate, can we all just quiet ourselves about religion? I'll talk about pretty much any subject, just not religion.
