Like all stories thus far on the Wii homebrew scene, this latest news isn't exciting because it's actually exciting, but rather because it portends great things to come for the future of Wii homebrew. If they can make a homebrew Wii Tetris today, then it's only a matter of time before we have ourselves some homebrew Wii Cave Story action, or joy of joys, maybe even homebrew Wii Velociraptor murder simulator.

Want to know more about how to homebrew some of your own personal Wii moonshine? Then check in with Chief Blaze in the C-blogs. He'll walk you through it.

I only look into this kind of thing well after a console's homebrew scene is fully matured. After a modchip that isn't destroyed by updates or online play is perfected, I'll read this again.

You know how there are people who try to push the limits of PC systems to play games at their graphical heights? Well the Wii's max can pull of Tetris.

39 seconds into it you can see him holding the camera with one hand and the controller with the other along with his PC on his TV screen. Don't know how or why I caught that.

I love the console homebrew scene. Just think, potential emulators on the Wii--what a blow that would be to VC.

Wonder how the hell they figured that out?

A Wii emulator is very exciting. Even for just the games Virtual Console doesn't support, i.e. Goldeneye.

HAHAHA. Unrelated to the blog, but his accent made me think of Rowan Atkinson's HBO special featuring his skit in Hell.

"The French, are you here?"

But Tetris on a Wii? I would love to have seen a Mario clone or something instead. Good stuff!

This is really awesome.

Tetris is just another murder simulator, by the way.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe that you can download virtually every game ever made on this thing called the intertubes. Or webernet, maybe? Not sure about that one. I think you can also make games on a box called a PC, and it's even relatively easy to do...

Why is it this guy can hack a console, but he can't figure out to set his damn camera on a tabletop or something?

Not really a "Wii"Hack. It just hacks the Gamecube part of the wii, wich is relatively easy compared to the real thing. You cant use the wii control mechanisms in the gc enviroment of the wii..

The-Excel - No modchip is required here. That's the idea.

savagesaladin - You've already been able to run "backups" (with the use of a modchip) for a while now. This hack avoids the need for code-signing, so you can write and run your own code, rather than just signed code (i.e. commercial games). It's much more of a homebrew advance than a piracy advance.

Fadobo - wrong. It's running in Wii mode. I can only assume that he's using a GC controller because there's already established libraries for it on the GC homebrew scene, and nobody's written a wiimote driver yet which he could easily slap into his tetris game.
