After an entire morning of hearing about the DS Fire Emblem, Mario & Luigi RPG 3, and the new Punch-Out!!, I thought to myself: “Shame, be damned! If Nintendo announces another awesome game I am going to don a luxurious white wedding dress and marry the gosh darn company!” Well ... er ... I don’t know anything about dress sizes. Would I be a 4?

For anyone not familiar with the original, Sin & Punishment is a Treasure action/shooter hybrid for the Nintendo 64. The game is played from a third-person, behind-the-back action perspective, but feels almost like a shmup since you can only move left and right while aiming an on-screen cursor to shoot at enemies. After remaining only in Japan, Sin & Punishment finally made its way to America via the Virtual Console last year. The wait was well worth it -- the game is incredible (download it!).

Not much is known about this Wii sequel, but I don’t really care at this point. Take a look at the screens! They are gorgeous! It looks like the same gameplay style is making a glorious return and that makes me very happy. Let’s hope Nintendo doesn’t make the same mistake twice and actually brings Sin & Punishment 2 to the West.

What do you think? Is this the biggest surprise announcement of the day? Are you a fan of the original Sin & Punishment? Do you finally forgive Nintendo for its crazy summer?

It at least makes me hopeful... They released Sin & Punishment on the VC and now they're bringing this out because it did so well... So if they just get around to releasing Earthbound on the VC, they'll see how many people buy it, and then they'll release Mother 3 in the States, right? RIGHT?!

Awesome news , lets hope this comes stateside!

I remember reading about Sin & Punishment 1 when it was released and I was hopeful that it would come over seas but my dreams were crushed. I didn't know it was out on the Wii Virtual Console , this is great I'm going to go check it out here in a bit! Glad to see Treasure getting some love on Wii

I love Ikaruga on gamecube!

Best news of the whole press conference thing.

S&P2, plus a new Punch Out, a remake of the original Klonoa for Wii and of course VanillaWare's Oboru Muramasa. The Wii might actually get some decent games next year.

Am I the only one that thought S&P was really overrated?

This was certainly a massive surprise and awesome to see that Virtual Console sales are being looked at in regards to reviving old franchises. Hopefully the slightly broken controls can be addressed for this one.

This is being done by Treasure, right?
It looks awesome, except the character's weapons look like a wiimote and nunchuk.

I'm happy. But they better fix the fucking controls this time, they were really shitty on the VC.

@sicPOS:

I understand where you're coming from. I enjoyed S&P quite a bit, but there was a definite aura of awe and wonder surrounding it simply because it's an import that never came out here. Also, Treasure fans.

It's a good game, though.

That is exactly what an updated sequel is supposed to look like.

Looking great, though I see some animation problems with the main char. Plus the flying bits remind me of REZ.
I dunno, sorta seems like a side story thing rather than a true sequel.
Unless that's the kid of the first two protanginists.....
Wait it is, blue shirt blonde hair.
Thats him.

Heh, really jumping forward. I was hoping to see more about the aftermath of the first one.
Maybe they'll have playable flash backs or something.
Can't wait to grab this one.

No, it doesn't quite make up for the overall mediocrity. But more Treasure is always good.

your definitely bigger then a size 4. Unless you're telling me you have a 24 inch waist. that would be ridiculously tiny for a guy your height. lol.

looks great, and i share your excitement chad. random non fanboy question, but have you been a nintendo fan forever? before the demise of sega, they were my company.. and as we all know.. treasure made some of their best games (dynamite headdy, gunstar heroes, alien soldier, GUARDIAN HEROES!!!!) for sega. so when i saw sin and punishment in gamefan or gamers replublic.. whatever magazine it was back in the day.. i was too excited for it.

the wii really is shaping up to be the best successor to my beloved dreamcast.. sega should put afterburner climax, house of the dead ex, virtua cop 3, and (i know its so old) plannet harriers on there.. or just a new space harrier would do.. itd be perfect for the system.

i could go on all day so im gonna stop myself.. good times wii fans, (or just fans of games in general). good times.

@Jetsetlemming:
Have you ever played the original on Virtual Console? An arcade adaptation would only complicate the controls further.
