Merry Christmas, everyone! In celebration of this special holiday, I present to you a video of the best Christmas-themed level in videogame history: "A Christmas Gift" from Elite Beat Agents for the Nintendo DS.
Just watch the above and prepare to have your heart filled with Christmas cheer.
There is so much to love about ... there is so much to ...
Whew. Sorry. I am having some trouble typing.
Okay, I'm okay. Deep breath. There ... there is so much to love about ... BAAAAAAAAWWWWWWWWW! I CAN'T HOLD IT IN ANY LONGER! THAT LEVEL GETS ME EVERY TIME!
I am so sorry. Posting this video wasn't the best ... BAAAAAAAAAAAAWWWWWWWWWW!

Meet the rest of the team
Lolololo. It was a touching story, but I have a funny personal history with this particular Chicago song, so I couldn't take it seriously.
And the dad's face at 1:04 is lols.
Holy crap, who's every playing in that video is AMAZING. I could never pull that off in a million years.
Also, the fact that this extremely videogame-y videogame manages to bring tears to people's eyes is just more proof to me that games don't need to copy movies or books in order to evoke the same depths of emotions.
Watching the video will not bring anyone to tears, but playing the level will, because playing the game connects you to music and the events that you see out of the corner of your eye while focusing on the beats in a way that's incredibly effective.
Talking about this makes me want to make the videogame equivalent to Understanding Comics, but that's probably never going to happen. Someone else do it for me!
Funny I am playin right now trying to get the highest rank but getting A's in every level without fail is effing hard. And yes I also cried the first time I played it.
This is the game that most needs to be continued on the 3ds! Where is our elite beat agents 2?! Or Ouendan 3....I'd actually buy an imported 3ds to play that. (stupid region locking!)
OMG Chad that was awful/beautiful!! I cracked up at the beginning with the mother being so insensitive and heartless, but it was just too cruel by the end and even made my eyes watery, specially cause I thought when Lucy woke up it was all a dream. They seemed so in denial it was kinda creepy. It was very sad but funny cause it's trying to sell christmas cheer but fails completely at it...
I am SO happy I was not the only one so affected by this level! It alone makes me want to go back and replay the game from time to time. I agree with Johnathon, it's wonderful proof that games can find their own avenues for emotional impact, without needing to emulate older mediums.
Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
Always bring me tears °_°
Another great Christmas game is Deathsmiles X2. The last boss is Satan Clause. Those games make me laugh so hard.

Though the impact is lost if you screw up, creating powerful mood dissonance.

Cheerleaders over Agent SPIN!?
What the hell is wrong with you!?
On a related note, I never had a movie make me cry, but I've had three games make me cry (this, ME2, and Persona 4).
Fuck you little girl! Fuck you all!
*runs away to cry*
Only level I never beat on the hardest difficulty was Jumpin' Jack Flash. Damn that song. So hard.
@Paul Soth:
- But did it WORK?
- ...Yeah, it did.
