The Behemoth giving away free Castle Crashers 'King Pack' DLC codes photo

Castle Crashers’ first bit of downloadable content, the King Pack, is currently available on Xbox Live Marketplace for 160 Microsoft Space Dollars. It’s also available for free, until supplies last, at the official Castle Crashers message board if you care to enter a ridiculously easy contest.

As artist Dan Paladin recently wrote on the Behemoth development blog, all you have to do is click over to the Behemoth Loves Me! forum thread and post the message “behemoth loves me!” After you do so, you might receive a private message from The Behemoth with a redeemable code for the content.

This has been made possible on The Behemoth’s dime. “We have always wanted our King Pack for Castle Crashers to be FREE. And it’s not!!,” wrote Dan Paladin. “So, in order to achieve this we went ahead and bought a ton of download codes from Microsoft for our King Pack to give to you. Yes!”

I’m on my way, Behemoth. Ready that code, Kelly.

It's so awesome that the Behemoth is giving these away on their own dime!

That's awesome. It sucks that Microsoft doesn't give the developers more control over their content though, so this is kind of lame that they have to do this out of their pocket.

I still love them though.

@Sharpless: They aren't giving me anything free. I already bought their nickel and dime bullshit because it only cost a nickel and a dime. Nobody is buying it anymore, so they're giving it away for free to those who weren't gonna buy it anyway. Let's not suck them off for practicing clever marketing.

Wow. Talk about cynical. Sounds more like you've already bought it and now you're ticked that it's free.

Hopefully I'm not to late. Just a tip for those of you that are like me and are posting for the first time on Behemoth's board: when you go to submit your message, it may say someone else posted and ask you to review your message. Keep hitting submit until it says that your message posted. I was a little thrown off by that at first.

Shame some devs don't do this, instead hiding behind the excuse that it's Microsoft's fault.

So, how exactly do other developers ensure that their content is free (like all of the free Burnout Paradise DLC we've seen)? Does MS let some folks choose the price of their content (if any) and not others?

I do love the Behemoth, though!
