The Beatles: Rock Band special edition bundle detailed photo

Hey! You! Are you a big fan of The Beatles and have a spare $250 lying around? Have I got the thing for you. The Beatles: Rock Band Limited Edition Premium Bundle, available at retail this September!

We already knew the bundle would feature new instrument models, inspired by equipment used by The Beatles. But today in an email sent around to customers, GameStop has a few more details. The bundle will contain: "a Höfner Bass controller; The Beatles-inspired and Ludwig-branded Rock Band drums with classic pearl finish, a metal kick pedal and a vintage replica drum head; plus a microphone with stand, as well as additional special content."

We're wondering what the additional special content could be, as we make room for the much-needed microphone stand we've been wanting for awhile. All the new fancy new equipment sounds great, but we're not sure if it's worth the premium for people who already own full band sets of plastic instruments.

When The Beatles: Rock Band hits retail on September 9, are you going to pick up the bundle or go the disc-only route? Let us know, so we know whose house we should be bringing beers to for long gaming sessions.

I live in Britain so The Beatles Rock Band is probably going to be somewhere in the reigon of a million squillion pounds for me. Go VAT!!!

It'd disc only here, unfortunately. I'll be playing it with my old tacky Rock Band drums, the drumsticks of which one shattered during play, a Guitar Hero WT bass, and the original Rock Band guitar that for some reason none of the buttons work on.

I don't care about the set up, I only care that Elanor Rigby is on that disc...

Do I like The Beatles? Yes I do. Do I like them enough to spend $250 on the game and a bunch of peripherals? Well...seeing what kind of finishes the intstruments is appealing and the microphone would be useful for me. But $250? Ask me that again in about five months.

Can't wait for these to hit Europe in the year 40.000 when the God Emperor provides our citizens with them.

I was gonna pick up regular Rock Band 2 this summer, but it looks like I'm gonna hold out to get this one instead.

I don't have any instruments, other than a GH2 guitar, so this isn't that bad of a deal for a Beatles fan.

I have tons of plastic instruments already...but let's be honest, I'm a consumer whore, so I'll probably pick this up, despite already owning a mic stand. I find it strange that they're including a bass but no guitar, though.

Here's hoping the special content makes it actually a special edition, instead of just a bundle; I've been annoyed with the bundles for RB1 and RB2 being called "special edition" when there's nothing special about it.

@ Discarded Couch Sandwich

You want a song...that's mainly string instruments? I love the song, but it doesn't sound playable...

No guitar? That's kinda sucky.

I bought the first Rock Band bundle when it came out and opted for the disc only route on Rock Band 2. Now my drumset is fully socked and I've gone through four drum pedals. All of that and the fact that I only have one video game guitar will probably lead me to buy the bundle.

Maybe.

I'm not really down for spending $250 on this, since my interest in these games has been waning recently.

So what you're really spending money is on some special plastic fake instruments. Worse part of this is, I dont' even like The Beatles.

I'll pick up the disc only version if they have some way of importing the songs into or from my existing rock band library. I don't really like Guitar Hero's approach of keeping all of the music on separate discs, hopefully Harmonix doesn't follow this trend. There's something quite satisfactory to scrolling through a huge list of music and finding a song you haven't played in a while, or always having a song that you play for practice to get you back into the groove.

I'll be in for the game and guitar version since I've been meaning to get a new wireless guitar for freakin' ever, and this seems like the one to want to get.

I plan on picking up the disc for myself and the full bundle as a Christmas present for my family.

I'll opt for the disc, unless the have a bundle with no drums. Another fake guitar and a mic stand would be pretty nifty.

It's weird that this is only less than 5 months away. I'll buy the game but probably won't need the Special Edition....

Certainly not worth it for those of use who already have a full set of plastic instruments, but this sounds totally cool for the person who has not yet taken the plunge into fake musicianship.

I've been planning on getting RB2 for a while, I may wait for this. But does it also come with the RB2 disk? It doesn't sound like it

@Necros

I'm really hoping that there'll be a way around it, I mean, at least it'll definitely be a great one to sing.

I can see guitars being put into it, but drums is anyones guess.. If it is on the disc though, it'll be something very different to the rest of the compilation. Its a nice change of pace in variety's terms..

I'm now kind of half-wishing I'd waited for this bundle before getting the Rock Band 2 pack. Still keeping my fingers crossed we can export the music, but I won't be holding my breath.

huh? I thought that the beatles game wasn't going to be a rock band style rhythm game? I guess I was mistaken.

Anyway, good for everyone waiting for this, but I don't like the beatles.

yeah silvain, i also am confused and disappointed.

regardless, i do not own rock band and this might just be the final thing that convinces me to drop the cash for it...i mean...although i know rock band would be a rare (yet awesome) occasion at my place, the fact that i'd have that kiiinda cooler edition that no one else has (because they already got rock band over a year ago) would make it worth it. but just barely.

That header pic is disturbing. I don't know who those faces belong to, but they aren't John, Paul, George and Ringo. I'm guessing the Monkees?

just the disc for me, I got RB2 I while back and don't feel like spending 250 dollars for more instruments I don't need.

Only the disc for me as well. My stuff from RB1 is still in great shape, and if EA would get off their asses with this 4 month overdue warranty replacement (long story) I'll have two wireless guitars.
