When downloadable content was announced as a focus for both Guitar Hero III and Rock Band, I have always been clear about one thing: Whichever game has the most Journey songs wins.

It seems that Activision and Neversoft may be delivering, as Journey's "Any Way You Want It" has appeared on Guitar Hero III's online leaderboards. Boston's "Piece of Mind" and Foreigner's "Jukebox Hero" (which is also available as a downloadable track for Rock Band) have also snuck onto the leaderboards as well.

While the songs have yet to be announced, it's only a matter of time before a "Totally awesome 80s rock pack of awesome rock" should show up on Xbox LIVE and the PlayStation Network.

Also, Harmonix is putting out so much DLC that its ridiculous... so the ball really isn't in anyone's court except for Activision to make future Guitar Hero's as good or better than Rock Band.

@ DrSpoq:

You did NOT with the "Journey always sucked balls"! Journey would be a perfect fit for Rock Band in groups and in bars. MORE JOURNEY PLEASE.

I finished GH3 on hard like twenty minutes ago and now this news. Could this be the best day ever?

Nick: I'm a complete music snob... one day I'll wake up to some 'fun' music and realize it was amazing all that time ;)

Don't Stop Believing is for the newbies of Journey. Seperate Ways or nothin'.

NightDehumidifier, I have Seperate Ways on my I-Pod. Great song, but I still think Don't Stop Believing is their best one.

Now, all I have to do is wait for Activision and Nintendo to remember that some of us would also like to play those DLC tracks on the Wii version...>.>

Yeah, if they put Don't Stop Believing up there on Rock Band, this "race" is over.

Journey fucking rocks, and I’d much rather see them in Rock Band than in Guitar Hero III — the songs are tailor-made for rocking out in a four-piece band.

Also, Nick, not to be an ass, but the Boston song is “Peace of Mind,” not “Piece of Mind.”

Damn, Peace of Mind and Any Way You Want It?
;_; Dammit, why can't the Rock Band guitar work on Guitar Hero III

Listening to Journey always results in copious amounts of liquor coming out of nowhere. Therefore, Journey gets my vote.

Nick, I am soo with you on the awesomeness that is Journey. I just...wish I had Rock Band and that this song would be on it so that I could fucking sing it.

Also, Metallica sucks. That's right! I'm starting some shit! Get on it, mo' fuckas!

Holy crap. And I didn't think I'd be wasting points on GH3 DLC. Touche Activision.

This is quite possibly the best DLC ever!! Journey is simply amazing and I would pay large amounts of money for a journey themed guitar hero. Anyone who doesn't like this is a Nazi

Best video to be posted on Destructoid ever. Steve Perry is a man among children. And "Be Good to Yourself" is Journey's highest point (With American Idol's Randy Jackson playing a craps table bass guitar).

Too late Activision. I would've given you my money if you showed you supported the consumer. Only thing I'm getting is $20 credit at Gamestop when I sell them my game.

Saying a blanket statement like, "Journey rocks" is... eh. I disagree. Journey has a handful of classic rock hits, but their musical catalog is also rife with the sappiest rock ballads in existence.

Personally I think Rock Band is winning this "war", with a far superior selection of songs out of the box and like 60 fucking downloadable songs already. Activision needs to get on the ball.
