The 8-bit tie

The 8-bit tie photo

When things are awesome, I want to eat them. Hence my deep desire to eat this tie. ThinkGeek offers it for a mere twenty bucks, but regrettably, it is not avaliable yet (you can sign up to be emailed once it is back in stock). Funny enough, it was an April Fool's joke that so many readers clamored for that they decided to actually manufacture it. I guess I am not the only person who wants to eat it (or at the very least, wear it). I would seriously attack a boy wearing this tie. I'm not so into the sad little hat and matching depression, though.

It was an april fools joke, but thanks to the power of Digg, they are really making it.
Thousands of people emailed them asking for one.

Man, the moment I saw that tie, I knew it was a joke that really shouldn't be a joke. Glad the internets agree with me. I'll be buying that tie and looking sad in it as soon as they offer it.

He looks like he belongs in Panic! At The Disco or Death Cab for Cutie or Dashboard Confessional or some other emo band.

Besides that, the tie is awesome, and I like his space invader tattoo.

At least, I think it's Space Invaders . . . .

Necros disclaimer: none of the bands mentioned by Oni are emo bands. They are, in order, dance-punk, indie rock, and indie acoustic.

This has been another nit-picky musical moment brought to you by Necros.

When will the emo trend just implode on itself and subsequently create a vortex that will imbibe all the emo/hipsters that are associated with it?

They should make a whole 8-bit outfit... that would be best.

Wouldnt an 8 bit outfit just be a bit too lumpy?

Emo wont go away untill people say "hey, your music isn't that bad, we accept you into society" and on that day they will look baffeled. We can lol at them later once they're back into good music and realise there are bigger issues than the fact your girlfriend of 2 weeks left you.

Would you attack them for wearing it and being emo or JUST for wearing it? I mean what if they were happy and playing DS or PSP while wearing it?

Someone said it near the top, but the second I saw it was a joke, I was like, "AW! What the hell!?"

Pretty 'cited 'bout it! That's good convention-wear, for when you desperately need to out-dork others.

@ Nex: I'm not defending whether or not the bands are good or not, just pointing out that emo is more Rites of Spring or Sunny Day Real Estate than the usual stuff people try to label emo like Fall Out Boy. Dashboard is just whiny, not emo.

My friend's description of Panic is that it's neither bad nor good, just catchy; he sort of falls out of the timestream when he listens to them and then wonders what happened to the last 4 minutes of his life.

PS: Death Cab for Cutie is the EPITOME of EMO! That is nto saying that ALL emo is bad, just most of it.

The emo trend is 10x worse than the genre of music. Any goon that dresses emo is not original in any way shape or form. Same with dressing "punk" or "ghetto." Just dress awesome for god's sake.

I personally resent the music, but I will won't attack it on the grounds that music is inherently subjective and by making fun of it connotes pretentiousness and elitism.

Unless it's Wolfmother.

Spark notes --

The tie is geeky, but I can hardly see myself wearing it, and then trying to take myself seriously. Wear it to a party? Sure. To a meeting? Maybe not.

@Necros -- Sunny Day Real Estate is good. I like them.

@Everybody else -- I also like Death Cab. Sorry, Nex.
