C'mon, Dtoid, i know you're going to give the next nom to Demon's souls, and that's aight. But PLEASE nominate a DS game, the system deserves some love on 2009, it delivered great games. Think how edgy you'll look nominating a handheld title for GOY, you'll be ahead of the journalism curve.

This is destructoid. This is a mix of parodying and definitally does have some
kind of artistic value. The videos are very well put together, the dancing (especially in the later part of this mario one) is absolutely great, and it's a fun reminder of the good games of the year. What did you want, another fucking video review of the whole game? We've played these, we've enjoyed them, they're presented to us in a great way.
You're entitled to your opinion, but if having a nice choreography to briefly present the videogames that marked the year is such a crime, go out and get a fresh breath of air (not to mention getting that stick out of your ass).

Deserving of being in the top but I doubt it will win... then again, all of the nominees so far are sequels so nothing is really innovative. My pick so far would be Uncharted 2, but I can understand arguments for any of these.

i did not say i was being manipulated at all, so your comments about my willpower are really hilariously inaccurate (notice the X's in my name bud. 10 years and counting. look it up). i said the videos were an effort to manipulate. thats a pretty big difference. and i don't see how you can argue to the contrary really. what are they for? you argue that they are for artistic choice, but, being an artist, i would have to say thats a pretty poor excuse. an artistic choice for the sake of itself isnt an artistic choice at all. there is something else at work here. maybe not a conscious choice, i will give you that, but it is a choice. and its a poor one.

lol at all the people throwing the "it's the same game" criticism at new smb. I bet you all play "the same" first person shooters over and over again. "Nooo kamu... halo is unique... it has moonjump and stat-nerd-gasmic leaderboards"... and the same rpgs... "but the hours of pointless grinding in this game are totally different to the other ones because there are 6,000 item slots and you need a masters degree in alchemy to make weapons powerful enough to beat the final boss" etc. I should be in "the bar" in the forum right now because i'm drunk but for fuck's sake... think about what you're saying. There are very few games out there that can't be accused of following a formula. It doesn't mean they aren't worthy of some praise & attention. Have any of you haters even played it? And if so did you even like the original mario games? If you don't like platformers then stfu and play some halos... It is a pretty damn sweet albeit 20 year late sequel to some of the best platform games of all time... and the co-op play is surprisingly fresh. And to the ..."it isn't even hi-def" graphics whores... you are missing the point. Nintendo could have released this game as a 2d sprite based platformer ala megaman 9 and it would still be here nominated because it would no doubt be just as >or most likely even more< awesome.
