The 20GB PS3 is dead ... long live the 60GB PS3!

     PS3

It was bound to happen sooner or later, I just didn't expect it to happen this sooner (wait, that's not right, oh well). According to several retail outlets, including the official online Sony store, the 20GB PlayStation 3 is a thing of the past -- you know, like the innoncence of our children. From GamesIndustry:

However, SonyStyle isn't the only online retailer which has stopped selling the 20GB PS3. It's no longer available via the websites of Best Buy, GameStop or Electronics Boutique.

Speaking to GamesIndustry.biz after news emerged that US retailers were ceasing to stock the 20GB model, a spokesperson said, "We'll continue to monitor demand for the 20GB model, from a consumer and retailer perspective, which will be factored into any future European launch plans."

Why even release two versions like that? If you're going to go all out and release an uber console, than release an uber console. Don't give us your tard packs.

It's still $600 and there's no games on it.

And I don't care about little big world. It's basically appeared to me to be a game draped around a Gary's Mod style interface. Good for them, I guess, but I never looked to Gary's Mod for gameplay.

As the hundred thousand or so webcam whores on YouTube can prove, user created content is a VERY mixed bag.

Maybe the 20 gig will be worth something on ebay as a collectors item.

So far the ps3 has done one thing good and thats take lots of money from uninformed idiots around xmas time and put it in my pocket.

"I just didn't expect it to happen this sooner"

You were blinded by the shiny graphics and the PLAYSTATION badge on the front, just like a bunch of other Sony boiz. Most objective spectators have known this model was on the way out months ago.

It's just warming up the grave for the 60 gig, IMO. I imagine the PS3 60 gig as Sanford from "Sanford and Son" holding its Cell processor "heart" in it's non-vibrating palm and shouting to the heavens, "I'm comin' to ya, 20 gig!, I'm comin' to ya!"

If you get this reference, you're probably too old to be gaming, just like me.

PS3 better stay away from me, I'll smash it's face into some dough and make guerrilla cookies. Then Grady would be all like "Awwww, Fred...."!

Sanford and Son is a timeless classic, anyone who doesn't get that reference needs to turn on Tvland tonight around 10, easily one of the funniest shows ever.

The 20 gig has been "dead" for awhile now. I searched far and wide for one, late last month. No dice. I ended up buying one from a private seller (hardly used) for $400, which was as much as I have ever intended on spending for a console.

zzzzzzzzzzz....huh sorry, what?.... oh ok.... zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.... Seriously, all I want to know is what's the street date of the next (really) interesting game that I can't already get on the other consoles... other than that why even bother with this console for now?

Now if Microsoft can nix the Core model (or at least put a fricken' hard drive on it!) and somehow merge the Premium and Elite models, then maybe we could scrap this 'choice for the consumer' nonsense and effectively raise the Xbox Live Arcade filesize limit to several hundred megabytes. I'm surprised the Elite doesn't come with WiFi. Even the DS has WiFi, are you telling me Microsoft can put WiFi in their home console? Come on already, it should be a standard feature by now.

Until Ninja Gaiden Sigma and (maybe, MAYBE) Heavenly Sword, my PS3 is a combination PS2/Blu-Ray player. I'd rock the Linux too, if I could actually USE it for anything...

I'm just happy that the HDMI connection eliminates the delay on my HD set that made Gitaroo-Man almost unplayable.

Ahh, console rage...

Tard pack? The 20 gig is the better deal. Well at least for people like me, who are only going to want the PS3 for a couple of games and have a 360 so will be playing online games on that.

So, instead of waiting 2 years to get one, I'll probably wait 3-4. Great work, Sony.
