[Update- Header image changed to this pic found on Super Meat Boy's Twitter. What could it mean?]
Well, it's not really a wrap. The hard working men of Team Meat still have to plenty of testing to do, then there are the PC and WiiWare versions of Super Meat Boy to worry about. Still, it's exciting to know that there is a fully playable version of Super Meat Boy out there in the world. I can't wait to get my hands on it.
To go along with the announcement, Team Meat has posted a few Super Meat Boy super screenshots. I stuck them in the gallery because I love them. Looks like there is yet another awesome boss, and a new character too. Don't dare gaze upon them if value you your life, and/or if you're spoiler avoidant.
Team Meat is also teasing the release date for the XBLA build of the game. Oh, and PAX is coming up next week.

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
I haven't been on DTOID for a couple days and lawd knows what I missed, I wanna see what other story's have been written..
Hmm.. it's a remake of a flash game. Maybe that's why?
You're gonna facepalm yourself, but even the devs call it a remake. Next time chill the fuck out. The difference between "sequel" and "remake" is fucking negligible. I was just using the words the DEVS (you remember who they are right? The guys making the game?) described it as.

Seriously, do I need more? I do have more but this is starting to feel like spam. I have no idea why you decided to talk down to me like an idiot.. which is why i want to make sure you're properly in your place.
Taste.
You know how budding movie directors will self fund a short version of a film they want to make to show it to investors? Meat Boy is like that short film, while Super Meat Boy is the "real movie".
The difference is, millions of people have played Meat Boy, yet Super Meat Boy has no investors.
I wouldn't have even considered a purchase before this, but now I'll think about it. Maybe they'd like to watch me play. Is it particularly violent? Or just a guy made out of meat getting chopped, smashed and ground when you die?
Observe.
"I'm not sure that it's a sequel or a remake."
It's generally accepted that a sequel is meant to continue a story from a previous iterations. However, obviously there are instances where the story is irrelevant and it's still called a sequel (i.e. Mario games or Bond films). They can't really be called remakes, either.. because they're not remaking the experiences or anything in particular. They are standalone works. So sequels work fine in these instances.
Super Meat Boy, however.. is being remade from a flash game to a Wii, PC, Mac, Xbox title. Sure there are enhancements going into it, but that doesn't take away from the fact that it's being "remade". Look to none other then Bionic Commando Rearmed, which is touted as being an "enhanced remake". That's no different then this same exact situation.
I don't usually go to Wiki for a whole lot of information, but I really liked their definition:
"A video game remake is an updated re-released version of a previous video game. Typically, a remake shares essentially the same title, gameplay, and story elements of the original game, but also improves on technical aspects such as graphics, sound, and the user interface."
And of course, as I said before it really should be the nail in the coffin that the devs and journalists (who get their info from the developers) call it a "remake", also.
It is hilarious to me that I was attacked for this by some weirdo or that I even had to go to the extreme of sitting here clarifying what should have been a very simple statement. But that's where I'm at. And imo it turned out to be an interesting conversation on the subtle difference between "sequel" and "remake".
I agree though, this is a silly argument.
