We need to organize a FNF on this sometime... be hard though.
Especially on Xbox, been on both platforms a ton. Twinkling was too rare from the clam dudes.
Don't idle at the bonfire, log out.
If you see a message that is helpful or desperate or funny, etc., rate it! It help give others humanity and we all could use more of it.
The more we at all are aware of that, the more others will return the favor when you need help.
It really seems that people are less eager to rate messages in Dark Souls than in Demon's Souls. However, the highest rated messages in Demon's Souls always seem to be the "I'm in trouble, please recommend this message" -messages with sometimes more than 1000 ratings. There seems to be no equivalent of that in Dark Souls (like "help, I need more humanity!"). But I guess that's only a good thing. Too bad people just don't seem to care about rating all that much.
@TechnicolorDewdrop - A little annoying, but if your bloodstain is right next to your bonfire, you've lost at most 1 humanity to return to human form, which ain't too bad.
Been stalling at the Kiln while I make weapons and mess around with pvp, but it's probably just about time for me to take a stab at Gwyn. (Only 6 dragon scales to go until I get that dragon body form, though!)
@Blue - "No framerate fix? Why bother with a patch."
" we can all benefit from stuff like more responsive lock-ons, improved item drop rates, expanded merchant inventories, cleaned-up text, and not needing the soapstone to rate player messages."
Still,it doesn't cost the users anything but time and if one's time is so valuable that one can not spare a few seconds to give a positive score to a message in the game, one probably shouldn't be playing around with time vampires such as Dark Souls, anyway.
Thinking of time, people caught up in Skyrim or other lengthy games while awaiting this patch will likely only benefit from it clear into next year on account of not having enough time to spare for it just yet.
Maybe it isn't so unreasonable that they pass up rating the messages on the ground right now, after all?
I love this game >D
Is there something about Dark Souls that puts players in a less giving mood or is it the result of more players who aren't inclined to be helpful buying Dark Souls based upon Demon's Souls' reputation and an actual advertising budget afforded by Demon's Souls' success?
Something that should be probably covered by the next patch is the disabling of player laying similar or identical hints near or directly over other hints.
You'd also be surprised by the amount of new players that never even bought the orange soapstone.
I rated a lot more in Demon's Souls. It's more annoying in Dark Souls as opposed to just pressing the Select-key in Demon's. Now that it's been patched I wonder if it will influence the rate-rate in a positive way.
Oh well, it's not like I played online, anyway.
how they hell did they miss that? it was so confusing.
I honestly think that a lot of people just don't know that they can give and get humanity through message ratings.
Although sometimes i'll see "need humanity" spammed around bonfires and I swear the same person is putting that down multiple times! Gotta be ....
My favorites: "need head"(getting old) , "amazing chest"(Arnor Londo Statue of princess) , "fatty" ( Blighttown entrances area)
