Not that I'm paying for XBLA to use them because that's silly. I just sub when there's a multiplayer game I'm into and unsub when I don't.
Right. Thank you PSN. Thank you Steam. You're not perfect by any means, but dammit if I don't feel like you at least respect me as a consumer by not charging me to view ads.

I don't know if MS profits from the in-app advertisements, or whether this is how some of the apps support their own content to keep it free (Crackle is available on iOS devices and the PS3 and it's free... there is no cost for the content - not even paying the Gold fee on Xbox).
Possibly Xbox's monetization is having more people pay for Gold in order to use some of these apps... maybe they do profit directly from the advertising, but either way, adds are coming to streaming content and there is nothing we can do about it.
To be honest, I don't even mind ads in the apps that are free... it's when ads start appearing in apps I pay for (like Netflix) that I would be more concerned.
Is that app available in the US or is only available in another country?
A commercial for a commercial.
Not a slight against XBL, just in general.
I've already blocked the video adverts from appearing on my dashboard with my router, as well as those that play before some Live videos.
As for the apps.....lol, I don't use any of those. All I use XBL Gold for is multiplayer gaming with my overseas family, and party chat. I haven't had to pay $60 yet though [I got it waaaaay cheaper], and my subscription should be expiring in 2014 or so.
As it is, I don't get external adverts, either on my browsers or my consoles.
If commercials help bring more free entertainment apps to the Xbox 360 I'm ok with it as long as they're contained and don't get in the way of booting the box and going straight to a game.
looks like I'm selling my 360 and picking up a new hard drive for PS3 fat.
Thank christ I have my PS3, 3DS, PSP, and a decent PC.
