What would the fastest car in the world look like? I don't know yet, but I know it will have the Red Bull logo on it.
A collaboration between Polyphony Digital, Red Bull and Adrian Newey attempts to answer this question...virtually. They are working on the Project X1 Prototype race car, which aims to throw out every race regulation to make what would simply be the fastest car physics would allow.
Yamauchi told the press at Gran Turismo 5 session yesterday that this project brings together the Polyphony Digital team's imagination with professional racing design. It's car porn. He really got us hyped up, and then showed a slick teaser video of the car. Unfortunately, the most notable visual of the video was the Red Bull logo, but there were a few glimpses of something sleek and sexy in the mix.
Yamauchi says tat they were able to test the car on the Suzuka circuit already. With the X1 they were able to shorten the record course time by a full 20 seconds.
We still don't know what the fastest car in the world looks like, but you can squint and kind of imagine it from the newly released screens in our gallery. I suspect that we won't get a full look until Gran Turismo 5's release date.

Either way, it looks bad-ass, but it's just a dream car, as Dale's post stated. Not going to be made. Red Bull doesn't have THAT kind of money ...

Actually the SSC Aero was beaten by the Bugatti Veyron Super Sport (not the standard Bugatti Veyron) a few months ago.
However, I'm positive SSC will surpass them again soon enough.
