Lol, what is the point of that flash memory version? You couldn't even play most PS3 games when so many have mandatory multi-gig installs.

They sell it with the HDD because they know some people just won't buy the bigger drive even if that is their plan. The system will probably update the very second you plus it in, so they can't risk some twerp installing or formatting his HDD wrongs and messing up a critical update.

sorry for the double post i've been reading destructoid for a while but i just started posting and it's kinda stupid that there's no way to just go back to the thread unless someone here knows how
Annnnnnd its still a little bit too pricy for me to want to get in on it, even this late in the game.. If it was $50 cheaper on all fronts I'd probably jump in on it, but I'd rather just try and wait to save the money on whatever Sony's new hardware will be.
Too bad too, because this one really almost, finally, had me.

We wouldn't need more memory if you didn't have to install each and every fucking game before you played it. That said, current PS3 owners whom might actually need all this memory are getting ripped off by Sony not selling expansion hard drives separately. I was honestly planning on getting a PS3 again, but not at $300. I'll stick with Wii U and 3DS (picking up the scraps with an offline 360).
The price actually isn't the same. The Slim is $250 for 160GB. The Super Slim is $270 for 250GB. The former isn't being discontinued because they still have so many of them in the channel. Once they run out you can bet there will be a price drop on the Super Slim to $230-$250.
