At Sony's Tokyo Game Show press conference it has been announced that the next firmware update for the PlayStation 3 is coming on September 21st. Version 3.5 -- unlike the last update which seems to have served no purpose other than to lock out "jailbreak" devices -- will add a new feature to the system: 3D Blu-ray support.
Do try to contain yourselves.

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
Firmware update!
Waaaaaaaah.

Maybe if some of you took the 360 cock out of your mouth and turned your PS3 on more than once a month, you wouldn't have to update every time.
Suck it.
You're a very aggressive person, aren't you?
Would you like a hug? It probably won't make up for the horrible childhood you are going through but it may help.
yeah, really excited. :/
"...took the 360 cock out of your mouth..."
"Suck it."
O_o
WHY MUST YOU SEND ME MIXED MESSAGES LIKE THAT!?!?
Now everyone's to busy d'awwing to get angry at him. ;D
Get out more, brosephs.
@What Up Xbros:
If summer's weren't so slow for games (PS3 in particular this year) maybe people would turn their consoles on more often.
B. I only paid once for my PS3/PSN service, so the PAY/Update ratio is really good. I paid once and get new features (whether i use them or not) every couple of months.
I would hate to have to pay a fee every month and to only get new features every year or two.
I have 50mb/s fibre optic broadband, connected to the PS3 wirelessly, and my updates never take more than a couple of minutes.
I am happy about this. Will be useful when I get my nice big 3D, HD, Sony Web TV. I've got a windfall coming and I'm so buying one of these...
Lets also have more chatroom options. Keep a longer chatlog - let us know what was said in the chatroom when we aren't online. Allow us to kick people from our private chats.
But it WILL be.
I want your internet.
I download around 600-800kb/sec
I'd be happy with your internet. We're stuck on 4MB due to the distance to the local exchange. Get around 450kb/s on a good day, with the wind behind me, if I'm facing north, & holding my lucky rabbits foot while touching wood (don't go there!)
BT recently started posting fibre optic junk mail stuff through the letterbox, but until I can get it on ISP of my choice I ain't bothering.
Still only takes 2 minutes to update the firmware on the PS3, what's everybody bitching about.
I'd be happy with your internet. I'm stuck at 1.5mb due to my distance from the LEC. Cable doesn't come down my street and would cost $8K to have them do it. I get 120K, and much less from the PS3 so I download on a laptop and use flash.
