TGS: Picotto Knights is a free-to-play Castle Crashers
Castle Crashers became an international hit in a way no one expected an American indie game could achieve, so it's only natural for a Japanese game seemingly influenced by it to appear on the marketplace. Picotto Knights is that game, but it's also a lot more and a lot less. Picotto Knights' levels are shallow ventures that last only a couple of minutes as you take on a couple enemies or a single boss. The customization and loot however is where the meat of this free-to-play Vita game lies. The game has a Ragnarok Odyssey quality in it being based around social interaction and cooperative play. It's not a coincidence that both of these games are developed by Game Arts. You are always leveling your character up, giving him or her new equipment, and accessories (you can get a Toro cat if you download the game in Japan now). Each missions ends with opening a series of chests you gathered. It's hard to tell how much the free-to-play aspects will come into action, but the combat of Picotto Knights is a bit too shallow for me to care in the first place. For PS Vita owners who love some loot, Picotto Knights may be of interest. There aren't any plans for a Western release, but the game is currently available in Japan. Did you know? You can now get daily or weekly email notifications when humans reply to your comments.
Legacy Comments (will be imported soon)Hoping against hope to see a Western release. I wonder if it has a crappy energy system ala Spiral Knights where you can only play for so long before your various actions to move forward depletes your energy reserves. Ugh I am getting so sick of FTP. Just charge me how much you think is fair and let me play the fucking game. Definitely potential in the model, but the vast majority of releases are not realizing that potential. @DTOMEK: So don't condemn a game that uses FTP before playing it?
Anyway, it's not on the HK PSN yet. :< That looks kind of horrible. Ugly and drab 3D models instead of a beautiful, whimsical art style.
This game looks like Castle Crashers' TMNT Reshelled. I would rather buy the whole dam thing. F2P can allow for some cost reduction to a degree but now you have to pay to unlock just about everything these days. I really wish i could just get a complete game like the good old days. F2p isn't the greatest but it is not all bad. Depends how greedy the devs are. AVA is workable as f2p for example, or smnc, while there are games that has too much penalisation for anyone not spending money. Plus, free is desirable as it means more will try it to see what they think. 10:00 PM on 05.21.2013 Dota 2 breaks own record of most concurrent Steam playersValve's free-to-play, high-skill-ceiling MOBA Dota 2 has set a new record for most concurrent players on Steam, with an impressive 329,977 players at once.
