Tecmo Koei has announced Ninja Gaiden 3 behind closed doors at the Tokyo Game Show today, creating the first all-new console Ninja Gaiden since Itagaki's departure from Team Ninja. So far, details about the game are thin on the ground, save for a teaser image and a few plot hints.
According to Tecmo, Ninja Gaiden 3 will set the scene for a "more violent" game, as if that were humanly possible. A darker scenario, more blood than ever before, and a humanized version of protagonist Ryu have all been promised. There are also hints that this game will hit both the Xbox 360 and PS3 at once, which is a nice change.
So there we are, a new Ninja Gaiden! But how will it fare with Team Ninja under new management? Feel free to speculate!

Because we all know how well that went over last time...
When he got Cliffy B syndrome he started to suck, only difference is Cliff got the cool game designer thing down right. (Not that im a huge GOW fan)
In other words, I'm interested in this since someone else is in charge. Hopefully they'll try something a little different.

And honestly, I would probably be more excited about DOA5. This year has been overloaded with action games.

Anyway, this is fantastic news. While it could end up being shit with half the original team gone, the teaser image was enough to get me as excited as all hell. And more violent than NG2? Holy shit.
I'll get it, I'll just be angry at it forever.
Without him, I think the Team Ninja will be more free, and able to create a better game. And promising more violence makes me very excited. The gore in 2, while not everything of course, was a great part of the fun, and something which realy lessened the impact of the game for me when I then played it on the PS3. More violence for this series can only be a good thing.

NG2 was not a "shitty glitchfest". It had some slowdown when you had to fight some 100 ninjas and monsters all at the same time. Thats it. Gamers blew it out of proportion as usual.
how exactly? HOW! The combat was the same but improved, and faster. What is retreaded? It is a friggin sequal. Are not all sequals a retread? I guess if the game felt weird than it must have been that bad.
As for humanizing Ryu further,why bother? Why not just switch over to a new,more vulnerable hero? There's nothing in the title that says that Ryu has to be the ninja that stars in this Outer Legend or Side Story or however you want to translate Gaiden. Still,it shouldn't hurt anything too badly as long as he isn't as feeble as that ninja from Ninja Gaiden Arcade or Lester the Unlikely. Maybe he'll actually need to use stealth now? Melee' combat is for Samurais.
But that's awesome since the past two games have been awesome (I still need to finish Sigma 2)
Ninja Gaiden 2 Sigma was a fucking travesty. The pseudo-dismemberment looked so stupid it made an otherwise OK game nearly unplayable. (Similar to the way Bayonetta is so garish that it's nauseating, despite the game itself being pretty solid.)
