Fuck it with a chainsaw
Set it on fire
Bury it in the desert
Drown it in the ocean
This is not devil may cry. fuck off ninja theory.
I don't like this at all. I want my classic white-haired Dante spitting sarcastic one-liners while wailing on guitars that shoot bats just because he can.
I don't want some angsty black-haired douche.
But then again, it's going to be a reboot... so I guess they can do whatever they want...
But I'm glad this is not Devil May Cry 5. The fact that it's just "DMC" means it can fail however hard it wants and it won't ruin the real DMC series. Like Silent Hill: Homecoming.
As much as 4 wasn't the "optimal" DMC game, I would have preferred seeing a better-made Nero & Dante game with more divergent playstyles a second time around.
I'll reserve final judgment for when we find out if he still has terrible one-liners and acts like the "real" Dante. I'm not sure why everyone assumes that just because he has black hair that he'll be angsty; sure there might be a little angst subtext with him being a teen now, but that doesn't preclude the possibility we may still get ridiculous action sequences, weapons, and over the top one-liners.
He was a teenager in DMC3.
That's no excuse. They've just pussied out and made a game that's going to sell to teenage girls instead of people who want more DMC.
As ChainThrow says, Western Developers don't and probably can't make a DMC style game. They make God of War style, which is purely simplistic.
The problem for those games is none of them are as good as GoW.
I like it. He looks like he has a serious attitude problem, which I think is the vibe they're going for with this. The old "80's Power Ballad" look really didn't do much to inspire any feelings of bad-assery. I'm sure at one time that thinking, "wow, he looks like a member of Poison!", was a positive, but now not so much.
What have you done Capcom?
On one hand, the gameplay could be the best in the DMC series and everything else could be flat out terrible.
I was going to say the same thing. People complain about the most trivial aspect thing and call it out. Yes, these few screenshots clearly show that this isn't a real DMC game. :|
It's not just the hair. It's the entire character.
You know how when they showed the new Cole in inFamous 2 and people flipped out?
Yeah. New Dante looks even less like old Dante then new Cole looked like old Cole, and that's a problem for fans. You just cant look at someone who doesn't look anything like the character you love and call them by that name. It just makes you feel...Dirty.
DMC didn't need a reboot, or a new art style. The action was fine the game just needed better writing and cut scenes.
What have they done??????
Also people are missing the fact that it says reboot, so that clearly explains why he 'doesn't look like dante'. Learn to read plx."
Reboot =/= Cash-in.
Bayonetta is a reboot. Made by the guy who made DMC in the first place, plays like DMC but with the original developers new additions.
The developers are a tell tale sign it's not going to play like DMC, more like a team that doesn't make DMC.
It's more than just the hair, They're throwing away one of the PS2's most loved characters, 4 games of story, to cash in on the Twilight train.
This isn't like inFamous which is a one game so far franchise with a character who had no personality anyway.
Either way, it's pretty sad people tend to jump to conclusions about the game just because of the way he looks. I'm reading people on other sites saying 'DMC is Dead' etc. People overreact too much when it comes to announcements when they know very little or before they even give it a chance.

But in all seriousness ever since the first it's always seemed like a difficult formula to work with. Nobody can seem to find a sweet spot for whatever the reasons may be. I've played all the DMCs and each an every time there's some huge glaring clawing that absolutely breaks everything.
This franchise needs to die already. I don't see why on earth it still exist in the first place.
Plus, Ninja Theory? I like those guys but that's just weird.
I don't know why I even comment this early in the morning. Especially when my phone keeps auto-correcting me with the worst suggestions.

Stop judging it by how it looks!
YOU'RE NOT USING ANY OTHER RATIONAL EVIDENCE.
oh wait you are.
Still, better hope Chris Brown isn't in the game!
Of course, it might still be a good game, but a Devil May Cry game it is not.
But c'mon, it's a reboot. That guy really isn't your beloved Dante. It's a different dude with the same name.
I would be more worried about the gameplay.
I'm glad that you have played the game already and able to tell us how exactly the game plays. It's great we have people in the community that get to play games before they get announced so we know whether or not the final product will be good.

Umm, DMC3? Game is fantastic and by far the best in the series.
