At a conference held by Team ICO which Dale North has described as having, "all of Europe and North America inside," Fumito Ueda has given new details on the upcoming re-releases of Shadow of the Colossus and ICO. In addition to the visuals being upgraded to high-definition, the games will offer 3D support.
ICO is getting a bunch of additional love in the package. The version of ICO included in the collection is the European release, which features content previously unavailable in North America. In addition, the title has been reframed for widescreen which, from our man in the field, "looks so gooood."
Both games will come packaged on a single Blu-Ray disc and will be released in Europe and North America in Spring 2011. As for the terrible box art we received in North America? Ueda says that it's an issue that, "they are looking into, and will hopefully address." See that you do, Ueda. See that you do.
This is a day one buy. I never got ICO, but I loved Colossus. I'm excited to play Colossus at a steady framerate.
They should do this with the DMC series (1-3) too.
Ditto frame rate issues. I actually recently started SOTC for the first time and while the game is great, the slowdown really takes away from the experience.
in a perfect world we where allready able to play our allready purchased copys of ico and sotc 4 years ago, but thats just me. And the thx goes to sony,hd,3d and team ico. If everything goes wrong we all can buy sonys backwards compatibility magic wonder device...cha-ching
I never played Ico and tracking down a copy that isn't less than $100 is a pain in the ass. SotC is one of my favorite PS2 games, though. Can't wait to play it again in HD!
Thanks for making one of my personal dreams come true--ICO and SotC on PS3. Now, if you could answer my other prayers, like world peace, and having my own personal harem filled with professional strippers, then I'd be much obliged.
Having just played Shadow of the Collosus last month, I have to say I'm very disappointed with these "HD" visuals. In fact, had you not explicitly told me that it was HD, I would have assumed it was a direct port from the PS2.
