American McGee's Alice was... something. I'll admit that my memories of the game are a bit on the hazy side, but I recall being impressed with the visuals, fascinated by the take on Wonderland and a little bit disappointed by the gameplay. I think that's mostly down to the jumping.
On the first two, this trailer EA has released for Alice: Madness Returns hits the mark wonderfully. Here's to hoping that the game can deliver on the latter. In addition to the video, there are some lovely screenshots and concept art for you to view below.

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
There are so many "old" PC properties that I really miss, some of which would lend themselves well to continuation, so this is particularly appealing to me.
I'm curious if this is a sequel, or a remake. I assume the former, as the first ends with her leaving the mental hospital having conquered her inner demons...
... frig that fight with the Queen was a pain.
I actually liked the Red Queen as a boss. Dodgeable attacks (most of the time) and she looked cool. The bosses in that game were generally bitches though. Centipede remains one of the worst bosses I've ever encountered. No health bar means you've no idea that he's a weakpoint boss, and when you cave in and look it up online, you discover that you have to tempt him into rearing up so you can throw a knife at his underbelly, only to find out that he's just as likely to lower his head and do the charge attack that takes off over a third of your health, with no time to dodge because you're really close to him in an attempt to make him rear up. Endless fun.
I hope it's a sequel, as I'd like to see more of the madness. If it's just a remake, I see no reason to bother with it, as I've already experienced all the 'wow' moments.
Am McGee's games have always been shitting terrible, though. As dull as Quake has been, and will ever be.
