TGS: A better look at the Monster Hunter PSP new nub photo

Nub. Nubbie. Is that what we're calling it? Analog nub? It sounds so...creepy.

Anyway, here's a better look at the new special PSP that Sony is releasing in for Capcom's Monster Hunter Portable 3rd. We got a closer look at the new nub today.  I like that it has a bit of an indention for what looks to be increased thumb comfort. I kind of wish it was rubberized, but this will work.

What I like better is the speaker holes. As you'll see in the gallery below, they're little cat paws. The whole design is nice, and the increased battery capacity (with matching battery cover) is icing on the cake.

This unit will be released in Japan on December 1st for 19,800 yen.

it's a shame that the placement is still so terrible, though.

I really love the way this looks. This design plus the fact that Valkyria Chronicles 3 is PSP bound makes me want a PSP now more than ever. If only the PSP2 knowledge hadn't been leaked the other day... Any word on whether or not this is states bound?

Finally they invert it like an xbox controller, now, if only the ds3 would do that.....

I havent owned a PSP since mine broke 2 years ago for two reasons:

1. My girlfriend has the awesome Crisis Core/FF7 10TH anniversary limited
2. I've been out of a job for this long lol

Definitely getting myself this one, just have to find somewhere that imports PSP systems, due to sony being full of importation FAIL.

Now if they'd just put another nub on the other side we'd be laughing. I'd buy a new PSP for a 2nd nub.

Hopefully they'll let people buy the new nub separately. Rather not have to buy a new PSP just to make my gaming a little more comfortable

Wait so the whole business I have been hearing about them releasing a Monster hunter PSP with an improved analog stick... doesn't boil down to hardware modifications to improve performance .... they changed out the cheap plastic nub for a cheap plastic nub with an indent ?

Nub sold separately I hope.

My first gen one fell down a sewer grate somewhere. What did that thing cost me? $200? $250?

They couldn't have sprung for a little glue?

I'd buy one if it came to the states, of course it's not though.

I never actually never put my thumb on the very top of it, anyway -- I'm always pushing on the edges. It does look more comfortable, though.

Pretty sweet tweaks in the design. They should just work on a PSP 2, while listening to the demands of every PSP owner, like two nubs. Two nubs are better than one. Thats what I always say.

Have the fixed the screens horrible refresh rate on these things or do you still see lots of horizontal scan lines durring fast moving games?

and when the PSP2 comes out i'll buy that one too!

@ BMkeys - That's kind of insane. I'll never quite understand the type of person who buys multiple iterations of a console they already own.

@hcapt: I see the Monster Hunter PSP as a collectors item, so why not?
and of course the PSP2 will be my upgrade,

@BMKeys - Oh, collector's items. I don't view consoles as collectors items, but I understand the thinking in terms of games.

In fact, the only collectors items I buy, in reguards to video games, are at least 5 years old. Anything newer, and it's just a game to me. For example, I got Shadow of the Colloseus less than a month ago (fun game, the lack of any fluff helps it a lot, though they forget to tell you how to increase your stats). It's weird to think of something new as a collectors item.

Well, just remember the lessons the comic book industry taught you about collectable reiterations, and you'll do fine.
