Quantcast

Rainy Woods is described on the GameVideos website as "Silent Hill meets Twin Peaks" and aside from their desperately needing to ground the analogy with a video game reference lest it be lost on an audience completely oblivious to any other entertainment medium, I agree -- we don't even get fifteen seconds into the trailer before our eyes are assaulted by eerily symmetrical midgets in blood-red mood lighting. Aside from scribbling David Lynch's name on their Trapper Keepers then encircling it in crude pencil hearts with ironically traditional arrows through them, developer Marvelous Interactive couldn't possibly be more in love with the creepy auteur. Whether that translates into a quality video game, a confusing, yet revered video game, or a horrible video game is anyone's guess, but I'm really pulling for a Chris Isaak cameo.

It's even Twin Peaks down to the music. I really hope they include some sort of direct reference to Lynch, at least to pay some tribute you know.

My word, that's pretty blatant!

Alan wake had the Lynch vibe from little we've got to see of it. Although, they did list Twin Peaks as an influence.

Do the midgets talk backwards? Because I'll call David Lynch's lawyer for him.

Oh Gamevideos, just because it's a game about an FBI agent coming to some town with weird people doesn't mean you can just compare it to Twin Peaks. This looks more like some average Hollywood horror remix of the Shining meets The Shadow Over Innsmouth than David "Film, at least for me, is dead" Lynch :(

"But doesn't she look almost exactly like Laura Palmer?"

I dunno Prof. Pew, it looks a great deal like Twin Peaks to me. That one cop even looked like Harry Truman.

They can put as much Twin Peaks inspirations in there as they want, as long as they handle to give me some Albert Rosenfield character!

I got a lot of cutting and pasting to do, gentlemen, so why don't you please return to your porch rockers and resume whittling.

Shame that the characters animations seem a bit off.
