TGS 2007: PS3 gets Katamari game ... just not a beautiful one photo

After all the back-and-forth, swings and roundabouts nonsense surrounding Beautiful Katamari and the PlayStation 3, it seems that all the confusion is finally coming to an end with a surprise TWIST OH MY GOD! It's finally, truly been confirmed -- The PlayStation 3 will NOT get Beautiful Katamari. It will, however, get a Katamari game in the future. This should finally make everybody happy.

Beautiful Katamari director Jun Morikawa cleared the air at the Tokyo Game Show, putting an end to months of arguments and on again/off again speculation. He did not, however, go into any details on what the PlayStation 3 game would entail. All we know is that a Katamari game of some description will be touched by the magic of Blu-ray eventually.

We now prepare for the next stage of console fanboy arguments surrounding the Katamari series -- which game is better? I can't wait for that one to start.

I think the PS3 one will be better control-wise, at least. The X360 one didn't feel right without the joysticks being right next to each other.

@pedrovay2003

I can't disagree with your logic, but after seeing how Lair failed with its controls (seeing as that's the game that I thought would make the most sense with sixaxis so far), I think it's best to hold that thought until we've gotten our hands on it. I'm cautiously optimistic.

I really don't see how the joysticks are this big problem on the 360. I certainly don't find them weird on any other games. It's not that difficult to adapt to, in fact there's not even any adapting to be done.

Offset Analog's ftw! My hands just die with a Sony controller nowadays.

Lair didn't fail with it's motion controls, it failed with it's insistence on using motion controls for boosting and 180's. Even if the controls worked 100% of the time, it's just unnatural to perform the moves that way. No reviews mentioned that actually controlling the dragon works just fine.

I think Sixaxis would work even better with Katamari, especially if they at least gave you an option to use the traditional controls.

So when the SIXAXIS makes Katamari unplayable on the PS3, will Namco be sending out pamphlets on how to review the game?

Pamphlets? Controllers? What's that matter when the only true way to review Katamari is by taking LSD.

It's ok, guy. PS3 will get Ugly Katamari in which the player rolls over failed plastic surgery patients, RROD-ed 360's, and the contents of Ron Workman's liquor cabinet(see: warehouse).

the first katamari was a nice escape from the putrid unoriginality of gaming

Yeah, the controls will be fine on 360. PS fans need to quit their whining and get over it.

1) let the franchise die. it was never intended to be a franchise whore (read anything the creator of the game has said)... and for god's sake, they're just rehashing the same thing over and over.

2) the controls on the 360 DID feel a little weird with the offset joysticks, but i'm sure you could get used to it.
