The above video is footage of the extremely recent Microsoft press conference from this year's Tokyo Game Show. In the thirteen minute clip, it is revealed that MS will be giving Japanese gamers a plethora of items long available in the United States, such as the Xbox 360 Elite, the Messenger and (hopefully) bags of cash to convince the Japanese not to fear their gaijin ways.

Of course, none of the above tactics are going to draw the kind of excitement Microsoft caused with the announcement of a pink Xbox 360 controller (coming soon to every Japanese home in existence).

If there's one thing I know about Japanese gamers, it's that they're all almost entirely asexual, but have strong effeminate leanings that drive them to squeal in glee at anything cute like the women that they only desire in the figurative sense that a Buddhist would desire a shotgun. In short, the entire population has vagina envy, and by filling their homes with items of a 'kawaii' nature, they can eventually roll their into tiny apartment into an adorable katamari in lieu of actually having to go out and meet members of the opposite sex with an eventual goal of procreation. The boys in Redmond have always subscribed heavily to my bizarre ether-induced thoughts on base sexual psychology -- and trepanation -- so this new paint job comes as no surprise.

That was a Ridge Racer moment if I ever saw one.

Some one needs to hire me to run the X-Box 360 development in Japan. I could have that system selling like hot cakes in a matter of weeks with a simple 3 step plan.

1) Develop a 360 Wii-Remote rip off controller packed in with Wii Sports rip off.

2) Have awesome 2D games and non-realistic 3D games developed for the console (dem japanese love their non-realism)

3) Price drop to yen equivilant of $200

Presto! The 360 becomes the #1 console in the Japans!

The Japanese don't dislike the 360 because it's American. The Japanese love American stuff. The problem is, the 360 has none of the brands that the Japanese are loyal to, other than Resident Evil and hopefully Metal Gear, and those games aren't out yet.

And more so, the games developed for the 360 don't fit the traditional tastes of the Japanese at all. They need wacky games, 2D games, rhythm action games, mascot games, ect, ect. They aren't going to make it with every game being semi-realistic and starring a caucasian man doing violence.

The Japanese are so over that.

Are they not allowed to cheer in Japan or does EVERYONE just hate Microsoft there THAT MUCH?

Could be a mixture of both. In the times I went to Japan I saw a couple of movies such as Pirates of the Caribbean 3. Whenever there was a funny scene, absolutely NO ONE laughed.

All of the stuff in the video seemed like Microsoft doesn't care anymore and just thought they should give the Japanese gamers what the Americans already had.

I imagine working for the Xbox side of Microsoft in Japan being like working for Sony PR anywhere else in the world.
