The above video, as well as the two after the jump, show off a match in the upcoming Metal Gear Online direct from the current Tokyo Game Show. While the clips don't reveal a ton of new information, they do show off a gorgeous rendering engine, a seemingly infinite draw distance and, yet again, the awesomeness that is OctoCamo.
Obviously the big draw for Konami is going to be Metal Gear Solid 4 -- the series has always relied on a story that, while at times confusing as hell, is one of the finest in the industry -- but Metal Gear Online seems like it's shaping up nicely, and should draw fans of both Metal Gear and online death match. Though, if the PS2 and PSP iterations of the way Kojima does multiplayer (Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater and Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops, respectively) are any indication, there won't be enough here to justify its release as an entire game. Is it too late for them to shoehorn it into MGS4?
Hit the jump for the other two parts of the match.

I guess there's an audience for this kind of game. It really does nothing at all for me. If it didn't have anything to do with MGS, would people still fap to this?
I'm a fan of the MGS series and am looking forward to this game but somehow these videos make MGS4 appear lacking in luster. This multiplayer looks incredibly brainless. Maybe it's because nobody playing understands the control scheme yet...i hope. My enthusiasm went from a giddy "oooo gimme gimme" to a blanch "meh". If clips of this type keep coming, I might just have to stick with Smash Bros. Snake.
Any other details? Vehicles? A choice on soliders and what kinds of weapons they can use? Like heavy hitters or commandos vs. say a scout or standard solider, or is that even an option? Without some kind of customization to what kinds of loadouts you can use doesn't make for a good choice so far. Also the person playing didn't seem to know what he was doing that much. Confused on what the mulitplayer is going for. Looks like a standard shoot em up get as many kills as you can get. Any other types of matches, capture a point or points in town and hold them? Need to see more to give it my approval as a standalone game, doesn't look like it so far.
@Nex
oh. yeah, I see that now. I was worried this shoddy looking multiplayer was going to drag down MSG4, but now it seems that MSG4 will either fail or win on its own single-player merits...the way Jesus intended.
Judging by the videos alone, I'd rather play Winback again than mess with Metal Gear Online, at least that had laser sights.
