TGS 2007: FFXIII confirmed as PS3 exclusive?

TGS 2007: FFXIII confirmed as PS3 exclusive? photo
     Final Fantasy

Oh, come on. First they tell us it's going multi-platform, now they're showing trailers at Tokyo Game Show for both FFXIII vanilla as well as its darker, more action-y counterpart Versus XIII that both prominently display the words "For PS3 only" at the end.

The handsome Mr. Flynn De Marco over at Kotaku has seen it with his own eyes, so between this and Jim's Katamari news from earlier today, there should be napalm enough to burn down your Saturday with a flame war or two when the fanboys get their hands on it. Then again, this tune is an all too familiar one, and like many a Nirvana single in the mid-'90s, most of us are a bit tired of hearing it.

They never said it was going to be multi-platform, they just said it was "in discussion." I guess the discussion is over now.

Breaking!: Fed up with Sony's shit, Square Enix finally gives into the PS3 exclusive... however this comes with a update to FF13's title. It now stands as... "Final Fantasy 13: The Last Fucking Game We're Going To Release For These Cockmongers."

Sony's reply?: IT'S A BLU-RAY PLAYER!

Doubt it. It'll be March 08 before they even think about releasing it, and who knows what will happen between then and now. The trailer for Fatal Inertia used to say that on it, too.

Wait, didn't Squeenix say not too long ago that they had a "clean slate" for the 360?

I doubt this will ignite any further sales, all these Japanese RPG's dont really push next gen at all, yes the graphics will be good etc but really, has anyone came close to the revelation that was FF Seven on the ps1. Innovation seems dead. I have lost all interest in FF games.

I'd say FFXII was pretty innovative. At the very least, I've never played with or seen a system like that.

Lol. They really think FF is still that strong. I'm not buying it frankly, as much as I love SE product, it seems like Sony they've too become stuck in a rut. Will always look great like FF games, but that's not enough anymore.

They could have made more money but it seems they obviously want to keep it Sony loyal, dumb in a way as you can't be too sentimental in business like that.

Banking all you bets on MGS4 and FFXIII is very suicidal, but being last I guess Sony can only stand to gain, if all goes well. Watch this space.

Could have sworn there was one FF logo registered, FF Haeris XIII, that had no announcements surrounding it. I wouldn't be surprised if that one was a 360 installment of the Fabula Nova Crystallis Project.

these fuckers should just say multiplatform.

nobody would be pissed besides sony, and they're in no position to get what they want.

Who cares about this anyway? I'm so damn tired of FF games (I'll come back when they make something else) Bring on the fun and bizarreness of Success Corps' Operation Darkness (a game more zany and fun than anything Square are doing now)

I'm aware of Sony's shares in Square and what it can give them, but todays global market that really means little. The majority of the hardcore that will buy FFXIII already have their PS3s.

Perhaps its Sony that has Sqaure stuck in this endless cycle of FF games, when they used to be about so much more than that. This is very depressing. Check their back catalogue to see how good they used to be.

Just can't beleive they are pushing these games, and still no Vagrant Story sequel. Go figure.

I intend to get a PS3 by the way, but this isn't all I want it to be about.

Sweet! Now come out with the game! Final Fantasy 13 makes me giggity in my pants. Come out with another Kingdom Hearts too!

Actually I still have to beat 12. just if you start making sequels of 12 don't makes a X-2 style game... I loved the story of 10 and wanted to keep following the story but damn that was to much.

PSN Demo? Please? Bueller?

Square seem like FF whores for Sony, such a shame. I'd have another Vagrant Story over more jumped up FF cheese (though yummy cheese) anyday. Just imagine it on PS3, because Square can't seem to. So sad...I feel like crying. lol.

I do like the look of Valkyrie of the Battlefield for PS3. This is another game that may convince me I need one, but its still all hanging on that PS3 price.

Forget FFXIII, where's the Operation Darkness and VotB coverage?

Jesus Cowboy TTop.

Is there any reason why you just went schizo and posted generally the same message three times??

Anyway, I'm not sure if this will make me get a PS3. MGS4 definitely will, but I'm still a little iffy about FFXIII.

Of course, I had the same skepticism for FFXII, and I ended up loving it to death.

...why doesnt everyone just buy all the systems? i mean, you guys like games right? there are always going to be exclusives whether its Halo or Final Fantasy. if you actually enjoy the games go out an buy the fucking console because more than likely there'll be a few must-haves for each console within this gen's life cycle.

always whining.
Sharpless's Avatar

I'm not going to buy a console that I will only play one or two games on. That would just be retarded. Anyone who does that is a consumer whore. Buy what you will actually get proper use out of. I will not buy a PS3, even though Warhawk and Heavenly Sword look entertaining. I just simply don't have enough uses for it. Just because I like games, I'm sure as fuck not going to pay $500 or $600 for a system that will not get enough use to make up for the large cost. The 360, on the other hand - hell, even the Wii - would definitely be worth the investment.

seemed all of the people here r 360 fanboys, including the author also i can see...

so why do bother it's ps3 exclusive? simply go and buy ps3 and the games is yours...

360 fanboys clearly do like MGS4 and FF series..., you yell and shout loudly like want mama come to hug you..if mama(FF, MGS4) dun come, they yell and shout the rumor loudly to get attention..until Kojima had to repeat and repaet again, saying that MGS4 still PS3 exclusive.

mean time, PS gamers dun ever put a SH!T on halo, gear of war, or forza..

think about it..

this is really interesting phenomenal...
