Dark Sector is a game I've been following ever since it dropped the whole deep space theme and become a Resident Evil 4 style goth bazaar. While the new trailer from Tokyo doesn't exactly bring anything new to the table, it does at least remind everyone that the game still exists, something that could easily be forgotten among the throng of amazing looking titles that have assailed us lately.
It would be a shame to forget about Dark Sector as well, because I feel we might have quite the sleeper hit on our hands here. While not groundbreaking in the least, I'm loving the atmosphere and D3 have chosen to emulate one of the best games out there. If you're going to take another game's playstyle, there are far worse frameworks out there to build your title on.
This could be a hot one, and you'd do well to keep it in the back of your mind somewhere.

Meet the rest of the team
I laughed when they had the Japanese voice announce the title at the end.

But yeah. I too have been keeping an eye on this title as well. Much like the monocle placed upon your countenance, I shall remain steadfast in my study of this product.
also, it's surprising that there's no Unreal engine in this one. Hooray for independence and originality!
A friend of mine applied to do the music for this game. He was seriously considered, but was eventually passed up for a more bongo loving composer.
From the insider talks he had with the developers of this game, it sounds like they are really focused on catering to the taste of current gamers and not to following their own creative intincts. Apparently the game had a completely different look and scenrio at first, something along the lines of Akira meets Robotech. After over a year of working on the game, survies said that gamers are more attracted to realistic looking games, so they scrapped everything and started over with this current look.
Makes me wonder if they'll scrap the whole thing again and make the whole game waggley.
i think they should have stayed with the whole sci-fi thing.
there are plenty of sci-fi games out there but they're not always good...
i know that this would have been awesome...
but oh well...
I played this game very briefly at TGS. Let's put it this way: The reason my playtime was brief had nothing to do with the booth being so crowded, or the show closing up for the day.
I don't think it's a beta. They've been working on this game for about five years.
Honestly, the guys making it seem to care less about making a good game and more about following a some goofy plan they made up that's supposed to lead to big money.
Of course every gaem company has profit as a goal, but one would hope that they also value making a fun and interesting game just as much, if not more.
For those with 360's, there's a webisode for this on marketplace right now. It's really nothing more than a teaser, but it certainly exposes a little bit of the plot and makes it look that much cooler in my opinion.
I'm all for gameplay that revolves around some great weapon.. However, I'm not for gameplay that revolves around a weapon that once you throw it you're open to attack for 3 seconds.
The Old Dark Sector would have probably been a lot better. The fact that they switched from old futuristic to this post-apocalyptic probably turned-off alot of the people who liked the original trailer. That game looked great. Now this looks rather bland and I'm not even considering picking it up.

I don't think anyone remembers that this is actually the third iteration of this game.
The original Dark Sector was announced between the time of Unreal Tourney 1 and UT2k3 as a MMOFPS with both space & ground based FPS combat.
At the time Digital Extremes was the darling of the FPS game world but they've since devolved into a hack studio who's main talent up and left long ago.

These guys don't.
Though I will probably still pick it up.
Bullseye! I was wondering when someone would point that out.
fuckin capcom.
