TGS 09: Ueda wants ICO, Shadow of the Colossus on PS3 photo

Wouldn't it be awesome to have Team ICO's games on the PlayStation 3 like that thing they did with God of War: Collection? Of course it would. You know it, I know it, and according to a recent TGS interview with 1UP, Fumito Ueda knows it, too.

When asked if we'd ever see ICO and Shadow of the Colossus bundled together in a combo pack on the PS3, the games' creator says he's all for it. Ueda tells 1UP:

"I always thought they were designed for PS2 and should stay there. But lately, I've been thinking it would be nice to provide the games to other platforms to reach more users."

This would of course need the approval and support of Sony execs, but hey, they did it for God of War, and Fumito Ueda certainly wants to see it happen. He's most certainly not alone in that. Can you imagine remastered versions of ICO and Shadow of the Colossus with anti-aliasing, perhaps even texture upgrades, in 720p? I've often felt these games deserved better than the hardware they were put on, and it's looking like if there's enough public outcry, they might just get it.

It'd be nice to have a SotC that runs at a decent framerate, so yes.

i'd always thought this, shadow of colossus is HD would be amazing.

also if you wanted to go that little bit further, have a co-op mode, i know the game would need a bit of an overhaul but omg it would be so worth it.

@ cap123

yeah, a co-op mode would be very cool particular for that game(sotc). I dont think they would do that unfortunately.

Considering you can't really buy ICO anywhere anymore, this is a great deal.

But thanks to Funkmaster, I gots mines!

I would instantly buy both (for standard retail price even, if properly remastered), and I'm certain I'm not alone with that thought. Add in a bonus PS3 colossus or something and I'll be in heaven.

Dear Sony,

If you bundle ICO and Shadow of the Colossus, with a 250gig-gidy PS3Slim, I will give you all my money.

Just think about it, mmmmmm'kay?

I have both of those games already and I would still buy this.

Coop colossus slaying like in those early teasers for SOTC (when it was still called NICO or something like that) would be awesome, bur maybe that could be in a sequel.

A sequel that will take team Ico 6 years to make and release on the ps4 in super HD 3d hologram boner vision.

If they give the games a proper HD remake then absolutely, if they are trying to use these games as leverage for their (possible) PS2 and DC digital games online sell i'll have to say "no", unless RC is implemented for PS2 discs too.

I wouldn't mention backwards compatability again if my PS2 favorites were brought to the PS3 with an HD upgrade for a reasonable price. I can't begin to imagine how gorgeous Ico would look *drools*

I only ever played SOTC and wasn't really planning on picking up Ico, so this would be a nice addition. Texture upgrades on the colossi would be even better. Those things look fantastic already.

The mere POSSIBILITY of this is the best news i've heard in a while. I actually bought GoW II and Shadow of the Colossus for PS2 only to find my PS3 wasn't backward compatible. Colossus is one of the couple PS2 games i really regret missing having had only an Xbox last generation, and seeing as it's supposed to be one of the best games ever made, i'm down for any reincarnation of it.

A ridonkulously pretty remake a la Last Guardian would also be nice :)

Sony - don't be an asshole about this and do something stupid for the umpteenth time this year - do what makes sense for once, please, for ONCE.

Re-release Ico and Shadow in a remastered pack. The world at large may actually thank you for such a noble and intelligent act.

If they take the time and really rework and polish up the games then hell to the yes. If it ends up being a ported lameo attempt to get me to rebuy games 'cos Sony yanked BC on the PS3, then no. On the other hand, it took me years to track down a copy of Ico so it would be nice to see more copies out and about.

Absolutely! I just bought a PS3 BECAUSE of the God of War re-release (and upcoming GoW 3). SOTC and Ico re-release would have been equally effective. Sony, KA-CHING! DO IT!

I have no problem rebuying PS3 versions of PS2 games if they're updated graphically. BC is still important to me, but I'd always choose the "best" version of a game when possible.

This particular set, though, is almost too good for Sony to not consider... Just look at the ebay prices of Ico, there's clearly a demand for this game.
