Quantcast

Capcom is invading TGS with all sorts of ferocious beats this year. Lost Planet 2 got a new trailer, and Frank West looks pretty vicious as well. Not to be outdone, Monster Hunter Tri is also on hand, with a new trailer and plenty of fresh screens and art.

The company's sales booth at the event seems to be stocked primarily with merchandise from this franchise, including a certain dope-ass cat hoody that I hope Dale remembers to bring me when he comes back. But I can see how they managed to pull so much merch out of this. There's a lot going on in this game, as you can see above in the new trailer.

I've said it before, but this looks amazing for a Wii title. It also looks like something you could get lost in for months, and thankfully features online co-op so you don't have to completely lose touch with the outside world if you do. I might have to give this a shot when it comes out early next year.

If this is free online, I'll be grabbing it day-one.

Those monsters look badass, a lot more than the PSP ones, and that says a good bit.

The wobbegong (yes I verified the spelling on google) one nearly made me crap my pants in excitement and fear.

And I share the hope that online in the US release is free. There is no way I'm fighting 99% of those monsters alone, and I don't think I'll be getting that many people over to my house on a regular basis. And yes, I have friends, so shut it!

So basically another game that looks too too good to be on the Wii. This is great because I have been wanting to try Monster Hunter but it's never on a platform I can access. Some of that gameplay footage makes me wonder how the controls are going to work, like the usual action setup maybe?

It's a terrible argument since I own a Wii anyways, but I really wish this game would come out for 360/PS3. A standard controller and well supported online would make it amazing, and HD never hurt.

Actually the standard controls on the PSP are some of the worst of any Third Person close combat game I've played.

It's not just because of the PSP either - the Analogue stick is for moving, the d-pad for controlling the camera, the L trigger for re-centering the screen. Because of that you never get a chance to use the D-Pad in the heat of the moment, so you end up just turning around and tapping L all the time.

Putting this on Wii might have actually gotten Capcom to re-think the controls, which hopefully we get more fluid ones on other platforms.

I am kinda sure that on the CC, the dpad still does camera.

@TheDirtyHobo

Fun Fact: This game started out as a PS3 game. Also, you can use the Classic/GameCube controller to play this.

Japan has to pay to play online...after a 14-day trial period to suck'em in. Haven't heard if that little nastyness is coming along with the US port.

if they add a lock-on feature that'd be nice. seriously that's one of the main reasons why fighting bosses sucked so hard on the PSP versions.

You need to learn to use the claw like most good Monster hunter players so you can turn the camera move and attack all at the same time

I'll be picking this up regardless, but I'm also worried about a price tag to play online. I have a feeling that it will be free for the US though, as CAPCOM's past history with online games here is typically free (Original MH for PS2, RE: Outbreak 1 and 2, etc.)

I get this if it comes to UK and it drops price. Or straight away if it comes with that Controller.

I can't wait till this game comes out into the US. I hope it's free online and doesn't use the stupid Wii Friend Codes. Till then, I'm just going to have to settle with Monster Hunter Freedom United.
