Koei is known for its strategy games and its endless hack n' slash sequels. One thing it's not really famous for is its RPG library, so I'm very eager to see how Trinity: Souls of Zill O'll fares when it finally arrives. A brand new trailer has been blasted from Koei's PR knob all into our media mouths, so enjoy the sweet blog drippings.
The video shows off gameplay for (I think) the very first time, and it's certainly not the turn-based JRPG I was expecting. In fact, the combat shares more than a few visual similarities with Dynasty Warriors, in that there's a lot of hacking and a lot of slashing going on. While I guess I had to expect that from Koei's internal Omega Force studio, I really was hoping for more of a dramatic departure.
We'll have to see how it goes. Hopefully the combat is more "RPG-esque" when one actually gets their hands on it. Nevertheless, I'm always keen to see Omega Force take a creative break from Dynasty Warriors, so I look forward to seeing how this game develops.

Meet the rest of the team
watching your coverage of the tgs, i can't help but wonder: who cares about the japanese video game industry. i'm not interested by these titles in the slightest. seems like retreads of last gen to me.
@Nitex
The general lack of comments should suggest otherwise, but yea: I'm a HUGE favorer of Eastern developers. They just tend to be more creative, and don't resort to making every major game a shooter.
I'm posting in THIS RPG thread because it has less posts and is more likely to be read by Sterling.
Is there a way that the site could indicate which systems the games featured in each article are coming out for?
I very often find myself having to google search things after reading about them here because I simply don't know if I'll be able to play it (I only have a PS3).
I remember a while back there were often tags that said "PS3" or "360" but I can't seem to find them anymore.
I love the site otherwise, but this has bothered me rather often as of late.
Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!

Damn, no 360 version? Tears of disappointment.
