Quantcast

Here's the latest, blurriest, off-screen footage of the recently announced Resident Evil 5: Alternative Edition. We've already seen how the game will control, but now we've got a better idea what the extra content lies in store for those who want to once again enter the world of survival horror.

It looks like the previously cut-scene only "Shadows of the Past" scenario about Chris and Jill entering a (surprise!) spooky mansion will now be a playable part of the game. As it stands now, that cinema is one of the most fun, genuinely Resident Evil parts of RE5, and the fact that I'll soon be playing it for myself is exciting on its own. Add some slick pointer controls, a spiked ceiling trap, and some hardcore cranking, and you have yourself a winner.

It's unclear if this new content will be made available via DLC, retail only, 360 and PS3, or PS3 only, so stay tuned for more info and an incoming hands-on report from those lucky f*cks at TGS 09. I bet you ten bucks that as we sit at home watching crappy Youtubes of this, Dale North has already played, beaten, and written a how-to FAQ on this new scenario.

Lucky f*cks...

If Sony's motion controller has a nunchuk equivalent with an analog stick and goes for a decent price I can definitely see myself and others getting one.

It doesn't look like it will have a nunchuck equivalent, just a dual shock. Also, I'm betting that $60 will be that "decent" price, plus the cost of the PS3 Wand.

Still, who gives a rats ass! The crank is back!

FUCK YEAR

I hope this is DLC. I've never actually played the original RE's so I'd like to at least get a glimpse of it. It'd be nice to play a Resident Evil with, you know, a Residence.

This is awesome. I wonder how long I should wait to trade in my current Re5 disc to get the new one. I just got platinum but haven't got all Vs. trophies. Also I hope this has the pc only costumes and 3d game mode.

I hope you can play this without pointer controls. That demo looks just like the terrible camera aiming with analog stick and then pointing on screen to shoot nonsense like the Wii version of RE4.

Why did they go back to that again? It was bad enough on Wii, but somewhat mitigated by the fact that I can't bring myself to turn that thing on in the first place.

I wonder if they will add the new stuff to the 360 version via DLC minus motion controls however

Does this mean we might actually get actual zombies?

I hope I can play as Jill and go throughout the story doing her own thing as Chris and sheva do theirs, like Ada's sidestory for RE4. I thought that was so awesome to play as her.
Also please don't make me have to buy the game again for just some extras. In other words please make it DLC optional, ploxers.
