Quantcast

The protagonist in Assassin’s Creed II becomes an assassin after the The Joker shoots his parents in an alley. Just kidding -- Ezio becomes a proper assassin after daddy visits the gallows one sunny afternoon. Vowing revenge, Ezio dons the famous assassin’s suit and starts hacking up those responsible or connected.

Freshly released for Tokyo Game Show 2009, the above trailer explores the origins of Ezio the assassin. Vincent Price A creepy narrator set’s the tone and explains the motivation. “There are certain moments a man never forgets,” he says. “His first kiss. His first duel. But most of all, the moment he discovers his purpose in life. That moment happened 30 years ago.”

Underneath the origins stuff, you’ll get to see a bit more action from the game -- stuff like weapon usage as well as those fancy Da Vinci wings. Click the button to watch and expect TGS-floor coverage of AC II in the future.

Is it just me or does this video look siginificantly worse than AC 1 ???

It's not just you.

Also, AC1 didn't change the world for me at all. I doubt ACII will do better.

Well, the video graphics weren't much of an improvement, but I'd say it looks like they've improved it quite well.

They'll cliche the hell out of the story. They have to appeal to Podunk State University audiences. We can't involve history or complexity. That would remove the bro audience from the equation.

They should just go the uber-cliche f-ed up route and say he was molested as a kid. By a guy in a white suit. Who enjoyed wandering through crowds, touching people to "get them out of the way."

Looks great to me, I can't wait. I loved the freedom and expansiveness from the first game, and this sequel seems to give even more options and total landscape, as well as additional interiors.

Frankly, the personal vendetta is more satisfying to me than a GTA-styled series of assassinations to earn rank.

Still trying to get the bad taste out of my mouth from the first AC. We'll have to see how this game turns out... I'm not gonna let my hopes get too high.

Cool, comes out two days after my B-day! On the other hand... What happen to Altair?! I didn't realize they weren't the same character, because they surely look and act the same...

I clearly have only been looking at the pretty pictures and not reading most reviews =P

@spiffae

Yes, it does look SIGNIFICANTLY worse... Hmmm...

Looked pretty incredible to me. Maybe when you take his purpose out of context it sounds cliche, but so what if it is? The real story of Assassin's Creed is less about Altair or Ezio, and more about Desmond anyway.

Isn't this like the same basic origin story that Batman or Spiderman have? No one bitched about those.
