Okay, if you say you saw this coming, you are a liar. The first No More Heroes was a bizarre, post-modern, blood-bath of a GTA parody. It sold pretty poorly in Japan, and adequately in the United States and Europe, but far below the sales of original IPs on the 360 like Assassin's Creed and Dead Rising. Few expected the game to get a sequel; even less thought it would be on the Wii -- but here it is, the teaser trailer for No More Heroes: Desperate Struggle, thus far a Wii exclusive.
From the looks of it, this follow-up will at least have one amazing boss. That crazy, flying electric woman looks completely awesome. As a huge fan of the first game, I have high hopes that this sequel will both fix the issues of the original (boring over-world, Dreamcast-quality graphics) while retaining all the things that still made it worth playing (bosses even weirder than those in the Metal Gear Solid games, well-implemented motion controls, lightsaber decapitations).
Even if this game turns out to be crap, my mind is still blown. All I need now is the announcement of Zack & Wiki 2: Kill You with my Monkey Bell, and I'm going to have to see a shrink just to make sure I'm not hallucinating.

Meet the rest of the team
Very suprised by this but happy that it's happening. Hopefully they can at least clean up the graphics a bit. That boss looks fucking awesome. Time to go finish the first game.
Great Odin's Beard! I loved the original regardless of its flaws just out of its pure awesomeness. If the sequel is anywhere as stylish (which I'm sure it will be), I'll be a happy camper.
Now that's not something you see every day. Awesome games getting sequels? Seriously, who would have guessed that Sin & Punishment and No More Heroes would both get sequels. Score one for the good guys!
I'm sobbing right now. The economy is belly up and we could potentially have an Alaskan hockey mom for a vice president soon, but all that matter is that No More Heroes 2 has been announced.
I'll probably end up spending another 30 dollars ordering the soundtrack for this one from Play-Asia, the first one was awesome.
Killer 7 came out on the Gamecube AND PS2(4 times the userbase at the time) and it STILL sold like crap.
Suda games are niche. If people want them, they will buy them regardless of platform.
God Hand 2 is called MadWorld, and it too will be awesome.
For serious guys, I'm all sorts of gay for the Wii right now. Sin and Punishment 2, MadWorld, Murasama, NMH2... 2009 is going to be such a kick ass year for those who like their games weird, violent, and Japanese.
I don't know how hardcore gamers can still hold out on accepting the Wii at this point. It's just got to much awesome shit coming down the pipe to deny.
Even though I could guess there would be a sequel this is still AMAZING AND UNEXPECTED AND IS GOING TO MAKE ME PLAY MY DUSTED WII AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
They did hint at a sequel at the end of the first one though when Sylvia says "Too bad there won't be a sequel". I guess Suda expressed an interest in one as well.
I totally didn't see this coming. I wasn't aware it sold enough to warrant a sequel this soon. AWWWWEESSSSOOOMMMEE. I'm going to go run laps around my campus screaming in joy.
This and Punch Out!! Wii have definitely made me want to bust out my Wii after being boxed up for the last four months.
The only thing I can ask for it maybe a redesigned freeform aspect, but other than that I was very entertained by the first one. I hope the combat stays mostly the same, since it was solid already. I'd like this to have no more waggle than the first, thank you very much.

"It’s incredibly refreshing to play through a game that moves beyond surface value and becomes art; not just through looking gorgeous or controls, but by challenging our perceptions. Because in the end, great art is something that not only moves us, makes us think and challenges who we are, but also expands its medium. No More Heroes does all these things wonderfully."
No, that's not necessarily post-modernism. Actually there is still no solid definition of the term. But in terms of the art world, this is what i was taught and understand.
Post modernism is a review (more often than not cynical) of all the art movements before it. It is believed that nothing truly original can be made anymore, but rather only through pastiche and collage can art be created. No More Heroes is post modern due to the fact that it takes characteristics from many different sources of inspiration. In this case videogames, anime, wrestling, etc. Almost every aspect of the game, its narrative, game play, and characters are steeped in this notion of pastiche and collage.
thank you for your clarification anchorman! po-mo always gets thrown around a lot and most people don't understand what it means. see: tonight's cblog about wario land.
OH MY GOD! I'm so hard. SO HARD. No More Heroes is my favorite Wii game ever. This is the only game since Metal Gear Solid for the PSone that I've had such a huge hard on for. I'm so blown away that a sequel is actually coming out.
Thank you Suda if you wanna stick it inside me you are more than welcome.

Thanks for the link by the way.
To put it into perspective, this is the Suda's best selling game. They are notoriously niche.
This made my day!!!

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH OH MY GOD

This is such an awesome announcement. Thank you, Suda51.
And to those who missed out on the original game, you better support this one!
Ooooooo...I forgot about the title change. My bad. ;^_^
When is Suda 51 going to release more info on MadWorld?
They did hint at a sequel at the end of the first one though when Sylvia says "Too bad there won't be a sequel". I guess Suda expressed an interest in one as well.
Also WOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
First S&P2, and now this. If ZOE3 gets announced, please send an ambulance to my house because I will be doing backflips from my roof.
Hopefully they cleaned up the graphics a bit. I expect it to look and play much more nicely than NMH1(which was great already).
Also, I don't see this leaving the Wii. Maybe the PS3 because it has SIXAXIS and that could be enough for what motion stuff that's in NMH1 mostly.
This and Punch Out!! Wii have definitely made me want to bust out my Wii after being boxed up for the last four months.

NO HOMO!
I'm glad I didn't sell my Wii after the great announcements of the past week.
