     Tokyo Game Show

It's quite amazing how detached from the games industry you actually become when you're at the Tokyo Game Show. Sure, we're surrounded by the freshest upcoming games in the homeland of some of this industry's most influential titles and designers, yet you're too close to the action to see anything.

Thus it was when someone randomly said to me "Oh hey, Ninety Nine Nights 2 was announced."

Yes, the poor man's Dynasty Warriors is back, and we have two whole images that were sent to us in a 65meg file. There's not a lot more to say because, like all the other news that came out of TGS, there's barely anything to go on right now.

Is it sad that one of the biggest new stories to come from the show has been a Ninety Nine Nights sequel? I think that's pretty bad, myself.

I'm stuck at the part in the first N3 where that little goblin bastard chases you around. I read online that if you can't get past that part you have to go back and replay the earlier missions to level up.

FUCK THAT. Not only is it a crappy game, but a crappy game that I got stuck in. That equals fail in my book.

Sorry that N3 doesn't live up to your standards with less grinding and no character clones Jim. Maybe sometime I'll open my eyes and see this game is utter shite... but not today.

Its an ok game, nothing special, odd that its getting a sequel.

Although its nice to see D-toid and its stellar proffesional journalism by already calling a poor man's DW, I assume if you end up with reviewing duties we'll get another terrible review from you?

Eh. If they fix the issues it had I'd be interested, as I definitely saw potential in the first one.

Of course fixing the issues would make it Dynasty Warriors, so maybe they just shouldn't bother. :p

I actually played and completed Ninety Nine Nights. It was fun for some mindless fighting, but the story was completely irrelevant. The only time they ever made reference to it was in the sole-introductory cutscenes at the start of each character's campaign. Even now, I haven't the foggiest how it was supposed to all fit together, and I still don't quite know why the final level took place in a Hell-esque environment (the final level was an absolute bitch, too).

Long story short, I really don't see how a sequel would work from a narrative point of view. Like, at all.

Yay! Another game I'm capable of playing while on heavy pain medication! So is it going to be referred to as N3 2?

I find it amusing that I just received the game from Gamefly on Friday and, about five minutes into playing it, I was calling it "a poor man's DW" also. It's not horrible, it's just kinda mindless. I am a bit surprised to hear of a sequel, though.
