TGS 08: Gran Turismo PSP is still coming, details not so much photo

Want to play around with fast cars on a handheld platform? If the answer is “yes,” then you’re on the same page with Polyphony Digital. Long ago, in a galaxy far, far away, Polyphony announced Gran Turismo for the PlayStation Portable.  Where has it been? In a brief interview with Eurogamer, Sony exec Shuhei Yoshida said that the game is still being developed, albeit slowly.

From the interview:

They have been working on Gran Turismo 5 Prologue and Gran Turismo 5 for PS3, so they've had to focus on finishing up Gran Turismo on the PS3 side. That's been making the PSP development a little bit slow.
When asked if the title would come out next year, Yoshida said “No comment.” His comment makes me wonder if the game is even close to being completed. Fortunately, we still have a few other PSP titles to look forward to, like Patapon 2, which appears to be a near heavenly experience.

Eh, the Gran Turismo series hasn't excited me since I played GT3, and realized I had been waiting all that time to play the exact same game as the first, but with better graphics.

Sources say the game will be released around the same time "Duke Nukem Forever" and "Alan Wake" are released.

since it's a first party game, it'll be downloadable right?

if I buy a PSP again it'll be download only. carrying around discs is for suckers.

Awesome. A PSP Gran Turismo might get me into Sim racers. Grand Turismo has always been the cream of the crop.

Too bad the joystick is probably not quite perfect for driving.

Also, I'll believe it when I've finished the game.
