Everyone moaned when Sonic and the Black Knight was announced. Then everyone groaned when some pictures were released for the game. Now everyone will bitc … wait, this doesn’t look that bad!

The game looks to be fast paced still and the sword doesn’t seem to be too gimmicky. It looks like Sonic games will continue to have some kind of gameplay gimmick and I’ll gladly take a sword gimmick over a werehog gimmick.

Side note: the song would actually be great if it didn’t have lyrics … I WANNA FLY HIGH!!!!

Could be worse...I didn't see one of Sonics billion stupid little throw away friends so that's an instant plus.

Sonic is like a living buzz saw... giving him a sword is the most redundant thing since shadow started riding around on a motorcycle ... Does SEGA even remember who sonic is?

Please Sega! Just keep the speed and none of that warehog crap!

And make the Black Knight say something like "It's just a flesh wound." in the final battle XD

It just looks like you'll be clipping along at a nice speed, and then have to come to screeching halt to hack-and-slash random enemy number 57 to death....and then repeat.

No thank you.

How did I not realise that this is a sequel to Sonic & the Secret Rings.

It's so deliciously 80s-ish!

I wish the Sonic series would go back to the mediocre but fun/actually playable days with the brilliantly cheesy soundtracks. As horrific as Crush 40's music is, it's so brilliantly catchy that you just can't help but love it in it's powerballadarific way.

It looks like the last Sonic game on the Wii the just threw the sword in. Not too terrrible. And I love cheesy Sonic music.

Wouldn't that blade be freakin' heavy? How's he using it like it's made of paper? Sonic couldn't possibly lift anything with his spaghetti arms.
I mean, a chao egg had him lifting with his knees.

Lame Rawk music? Check.
"edgy" gimmick added? Check.
Three dimensions? Check.

Just needs the addition of another uneeded character and were all set for fail. I still think it will turn out better than unleashed though. But thats not saying much.

Heh, it actually didn't look that bad. If they don't make the missions as repetitive this time around, it might be a worthy entry(well, to the extent of Sonic and the Secret Rings).

The sword moves just seem like an extension of Sonics normal moveset, sword slashes seem to function like the somersault, when he jumps, he uses the sword for extended range, wall jumps with a slow slide down by plunging the sword into a wall.

Sonic with a sword makes sense in that he is in another storybook scenario (in the vein of Secret Rings), this time in Camelot. King Arthur has turned evil, and Sonic uses Arthur's magical sword, Excalibur, to beat all the bad guys and save him. It is a little gimmicky, but I honestly really like it. But how it will play is an entirely different story..

It really all comes down to whether or not they screw up the control scheme. If they manage to make it so that the combat is fluid and doesn't interfere with the gameplay speed it might actually be good.
And... I kind of like the corny theme songs. I mean, they're ridiculously cheesy and pretty much undeniably bad, but they've got this lovable 80s sheen and misplaced sense of genuineness.

I rather enjoyed the theme. I just hope they fix the ABYSMAL control scheme of Secret Rings. That was probably the worst case of waggle for waggle's sake.

If it's secret rings minus the wiitarded control scheme with a classic controller option, I'm sold.

It's better than I thought. And since this game is basically Secret Rings minus the sucky controls, I think I'm going to get this one.

Huh...I don't mind the song, actually. I'm kinda used to a Sonic game having a somewhat corny intro since Sonic CD. Hell, I still have the Sonic R soundtrack that came off its re-release on the PC.

Will wait for more info/gameplay before deciding. Then again, the Sonic Hype Chart.jpg will likely come true again.
